CARTERSVILLE, GA – A long Week 10 of the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season is in the books for the Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region and the West Region that began on May 30 and ran through June 4. Week 10 competition saw five first time winners. In the first ten weeks of competition, 301 different drivers have raced in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS.

The action began on May 30 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region with Josh Huss of Flomaton, AL taking his first win of the season driving the Charco, Inc. Trak-Star at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL.

Paul Walters of Valley, AL was another first time NeSmith Chevrolet WRS OMG East Region winner on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL driving The Lunch Box Warrior. Todd Watson of Eastaboga, AL was a first time winner on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Watson Racing Special.

Doug Stevens of Griffin, GA drove his American Pie Pizza GRT to his second straight win on Saturday night at New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA. Jimmy Elkins Jr. of Talladega, AL continues to lead the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region standings with 550 points after finishing second on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track.

Elkins has three wins, and eight top five finishes in 11 races driving the ADP Special and holds a 34-point lead over Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL, who has 516 points. Brian Ponder of Talladega, AL is third with 504 points, Mike Combs of Odenville, AL is fourth with 459 points, and Doug Ludwig of Grantville, GA is fifth with 442 points.

Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region standings with 432 points, Russ Ogletree of Phenix City, AL is seventh with 431 points, and Chris Griffin of Flomaton, AL is eighth with 428 points. Trey White of Jenkinsburg, GA is ninth with 388 points, and Maddox Mullinax of Birmingham, AL rounds out the OMG East Region top ten with 380 points.

In the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region, Malden Speedway got their first event in since April 8 on Friday night with Mason Oberkramer of Malden, MO taking his first win of the season in the Oberkramer Racing Special.

Roger Witt of Batesville, AR drove The Chrome Shop GRT to his third straight NeSmith Chevrolet weekly Racing Series West Region win at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR on Friday night. Racing action at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS was rained out just before the feature event.

The rainout at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park will necessitate double-features this Friday night. The make-up feature race will count towards Week 10 West Region points, and the second feature will count towards Week 11 West Region points.

Neil Baggett of Shannon, MS took his NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region first win of the season over a 30-car field on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the Montgomery Farms Special.

Duke Palasini of Leland, MS drove the Palasini Farms Special to his fourth win of the season on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region action.

After two straight rainouts at NEA Speedway in Harrisburg, AR, the track finally got its first NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region event of the season in on Saturday night. Travis Ashley of Batesville, AR picked up his second win of the season driving the Bad Boy Mowers GRT.

The 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS finished fourth on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway and continues to lead the West Region standings with 485 points. McDuffie has three wins, eight top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in nine starts driving the H.E. Mosley, Inc. Trak-Star.

McDuffie holds a 38-point lead over Randy Boyd of Marion, MS in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings. Boyd has 447 points, and Daniel Bridgeman of Meridian, MS is third with 432 points. Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is fourth with 420 points, and Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL is fifth with 414 points.

Tim Dees of Meridian, MS is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 409 points and Larry Murphy of Meridian, MS is seventh with 408 points. Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS is eighth with 400 points, and Wiley Williams of Stonewall, MS is ninth with 395 points. Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS rounds out the top ten in the West Region standings with 383 points.

The point battle is heating up for the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Challenge Championship between the defending and two-time Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL and three-time Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR.

Trak-Star Race Cars continues to lead the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge points, as Huss gave Trak-Star Race Cars its 23rd win of the season. Week 10 victories from Stevens, Witt and Ashley moved GRT Race Cars to within two points of the lead. GRT Race Cars is second in the standings with 21 wins so far this season.

Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge standings with nine wins, and Walters’ Week 10 win gave Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN its first NeSmith Chevrolet WRS win of the season and the fourth spot in the Chassis Manufacturers Challenge standings.

Also participating in the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge are TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN and Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN. Both chassis brands are still looking for their first NeSmith Chevrolet WRS win of the season.
