CARTERSVILLE, GA – 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN has given the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series a new East Tennessee home, as track owner Mitch McCarter and the series founder and director Mike Vaughn announced today that the 30-lap $1,500-to-win $100-to-start June 16 event for Crate Late Models at the track will be sanctioned by the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series.

Drivers competing in the 411 Motor Speedway June 16 event will compete for NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region points, and drivers that have events accumulated towards Regional Bonus Points from the now closed Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN can carry over those races to the June 16 411 Motor Speedway event.

A driver’s best 14 race weekend point totals count towards their NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) Regional point totals during the 27-week season that began on April 1 and runs through October 2. Drivers can earn 25 Regional Bonus Points, that are added to their Best 14 total, for each four weeks of perfect attendance at a NeSmith Chevrolet WRS track up to 100 Regional Bonus Points.

At the end of the season, the Top 10 drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region point standings will collect money out of the point fund, with the Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region Champion pocketing $5,000.

Several East Tennessee drivers began the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region season at Smoky Mountain Speedway, which was averaging about 16 NeSmith Chevrolet WRS OMG East Region late models for a Saturday night show. Many of these drivers were in the Top 20 of the OMG East Region point standings when Smoky Mountain Speedway suddenly closed after Week 7 of the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS season last month.

The 411 Motor Speedway June 16 event will take place in Week 12 of the 27-week NeSmith Chevrolet WRS season, so those drivers that began the season at Smoky Mountain Speedway still have an opportunity to get to the 14 week mark and still earn up to 100 bonus points.

“We have heard good things about the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series and we’re looking forward to having their sanction with our crate late models for the June 16 race at 411 Motor Speedway,” McCarter said. “The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series has a good following of cars here in East Tennessee and we want to give them a place to compete for their Regional points here at 411 Motor Speedway.”

Vaughn shared McCarter’s enthusiasm about the June 16 race at 411 Motor Speedway and is looking forward to even more events in the future.

“We are excited that Mitch McCarter has stepped up to the plate and given these East Tennessee racers a chance to still compete for the Old Man’s Garage East Region Championship at 411 Motor Speedway,” Vaughn said. “There are more announcements coming for more dates at 411 Motor Speedway as Mitch and I work together. We are still talking about some promising things, but we wanted to get the sanction for this June 16 show set and announced because we are getting close to it.”

The $1,500-to-win purse is over the limit set by the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series for a weekly Regional event, but Vaughn waived that rule for the 411 Motor Speedway June 16 race for several reasons.

“A lot of East Tennessee racers made a financial commitment at the beginning of the year to compete for the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage East Region Championship by purchasing GM Performance Crate Engines,” Vaughn said. “They also supported the series for seven weeks before they did not have a track to compete at through no fault of their own. I feel we owe it to these drivers to find them a place to race for Old Man’s Garage East Region points, and since this race at 411 Motor Speedway was already set for $1,500-to-win, and there are no other OMG East Region events on the schedule for that night, we made an exception to the $1,000-to-win limit.”

On June 16 the 411 Motor Speedway gates open at 5 p.m. with the drivers meeting set for 6:30 p.m. and hot laps are scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m. with time trials to follow. The entry fee for the June 16 event at 411 Motor Speedway is $75.

411 Motor Speedway is located one-mile south of U.S. Highway 441 on U.S. Highway 411, 13 miles south of Knoxville, TN and 13 miles east of Maryville, TN. For more information call 865-257-7223, or visit the track web site at www.411motorspeedway.net.
