Final Preparations for AMRA Super Weekend at Beckley-Natural Bridge
Schrader and Wallace Join AMRA Stars For Immediate Release
MT. ALTO, WV- The American Motor Racing Association (AMRA) and Federated Auto Parts, in conjunction with two of the region's most highly touted tracks have come together to bring Beckley Motorsports Park, Beckley, WV and Natural Bridge Speedway, Lexington, VA an AMRA "Super Weekend" Friday, June 10 and Saturday, June 11. Each night will feature a "Federated Racing /Fisher Auto Parts 35" modified spectacular, featuring the powerful AMRA open wheel modifieds.
Said Beckley's Jim Williams, "This is a huge shot in the arm from the great folks from Federated Racing/Fisher Auto Parts to bring Ken Schrader here and to have chosen BMP as one of the tracks hosting a NASCAR star. It will be a great show with Kenny participating. You know, he is just not here to sign autographs, he's going to be doing what he does best, and that is race! I believe the competition he will face will be the best in the nation. It should be an awesome show for the fans!!!!!"
Friday June 10th the Road Warriors will be at Beckley Motorsports Park. The "Federated Racing Fisher Auto Parts 35" will have Kenny Schrader in attendance in his modified to again take on the Road Warriors. The program will consist of 1 lap qualifying, heats, at least one B-main and a 35 lap mail event. The field will be set at 19 cars.18 cars from the heats and an RWT provisional. The top six will be set by a fast dash between the heat race winners (or if less than six heats, the top six qualifiers racing into the feature). Saturday June 11th The Road Warriors travel for the first time to Natural Bridge Speedway. The Federated Racing Fisher Auto Parts 35 at the Bridge will feature both Kenny Schrader and Kenny Wallace. The field will increase to 24 cars. 22 locked in from the heats and 2 provisional. Racers will see the purse increased to the new improved Gold for this event. 1.1500 2.1000 3. 700 4. 600 5. 525 6. 450 7. 415 8. 375 9. 335 10. 300 11. 270 12. 240 13. 225 14. 210 15 to 24 200 to start. Gates open at 3:00, drivers meeting at 5:15, hot laps at 5:30. 11:00pm curfew at the track so anyone making the haul will be home early.
Said Director of Racing Operations for the AMRA, Scott Wolfe, "Hours and hours of hard work have gone into this deal to make it come together. Most of the work was long and hard and a volunteer effort to make something great happen for the AMRA drivers, the AMRA tracks, and the fans. This should be a special weekend for everyone. Thanks to everyone who helped make this deal a reality."
One of the things that makes this deal attractive besides the obvious appeal of having NASCAR legends and a good purse, is the fact that the tracks are only 120 miles apart.
Here is a special note for drivers. The new M100 is now legal for AMRA modifieds. The flat only tire change policy will be in effect at all Road Warrior show. Fans and drivers should check respective websites or call for further information. Amended AMRA rules are posted in the news section of the AMRA website.
Friday at Beckley, Eagle Coal, Gerald Stokes/West Star Management of Beckley, WV and Vondy Brunty have sweetened the pot as race sponsor, elevating the Beckley purse to $1,200 to win and $175 to start, a total feature pay-out of $6170. Also, there will be a "Dash for Cash" paying $100 to win, featuring the six heat race winners. Racers will have to race their way into the dash and their finish will determine the starting line-up for the feature.
A similar "Dash for Cash" has been added at Natural Bridge where Erwin Racing Supply is sponsoring the $100 to win dash; and Brett Hamilton Enterprises is sponsoring the race hard-charger to the tune of $100. In addition, the NBS race will pay $1,500 to the winner, $200 to start in the first-ever appearance of the Road Warriors at the thriving speed-plant.
Gates Open at 5 p.m. and warm-ups are at approximately 7:00. Plans for a Meet and Greet are also in the works so that fans can come early and get an autograph from Kenny Schrader. See the website for details.
