Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS will have double feature races this Friday night. Hattiesburg Motorsports Park was rained out just before last week’s main event, and that race will be run first. Drivers in the first feature race will be credited with NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region points for Week 10. The second feature counts for Week 11.

Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 11 West Region events are scheduled for Centerville Speedway in Centerville, AR, Drew County Speedway in Monticello, AR, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

The 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meriden, MS leads the West Region standings with 486 points, and has a 39-point lead over the second-place driver Randy Boyd of Marion, MS, who has 447 points.

Penton Raceway in Penton, AL will open the Week 11 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region competition on Friday night. Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet WRS OMG East Region events are scheduled for Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL, New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Jimmy Elkins Jr. of Talladega, AL leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region standings with 550 points, and holds a 34-point lead over Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL, who has 516 points.

Drivers participating in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series events compete for prize money at each event, and each track will pay out a point fund at the end of the season. Drivers are also competing for the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Regional point fund that pays $5,000 to the Champion and pays back through the top ten spots in each Region.

A driver’s Regional point total is made up of their best event point total on a weekly basis, plus bonus points earned by perfect attendance at a single track and participating in NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring events. The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series runs through October 2.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical GM Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications.
