I have a question on a 2300 ford how can I get more RPMs with moving the cam timming. when I changed gear ratio it still turned 6900
I have changed the gear to turn more new tack and only turning 6900. need to turn 74 -75
thanks for any help

Changing the cam timing will not change the rpm's any noticeable amount. It will move the power band higher or lower.Sounds like you may need a bigger cam, better valve springs, bigger carb or possibly an adjustment in driving style.Something is holding the motor back and it is very seldom cam timing.

First off does it just go flat at that RPM with more track left?
If it is still pulling then a gear change is what is needed. If it runs flat then either a more agressive cam may be needed or you have some mechanical limitations ie. valve springs. You can try to retard the cam timing 4 degrees and see if it can pull a little more RPM.

im having the kinda same problem have a motor capable of 7800-8200 but it would only turn 6500 and a buddy of mine has about the same motor and gears as me and turned 7800. but i noticed if i give more then half throttle it doesnt pull any harder? or open up anymore
