UFos Fly and Fireworks in the Sky at Elkins Raceway on June 17!
(Mars, PA) The new Elkins Raceway will host its biggest event of the 2011 season on Friday night, June 17. The UFo Race Championship will return to the track for the “Chuck Gear Trophy.” The 41-lap UFo Super Late Model feature will pay $3,000 to the winner and $300 to start plus $150 to non-qualifiers. The event will also feature the 1st spectacular fireworks display in the region at intermission.
The FASTRAK Pro-Lates, AMRA E-mods, Street Stocks, Mod-Lites and junior-age Mini-Wedges will also be in competition at the UFo “Chuck Gear Trophy.” The new management of the Elkins Raceway has already established the track as the premier Friday night entertainment venue in the region. High car counts and great racing have been the standard in 2011 at the track.
Devin Friese of Chambersburg, PA has taken control of the UFo points race with Keith Barbara of South Park, PA trailing by 16 points and Jared Miley of South Park, PA only 1 point behind Barbara. Defending UFo Race Champion Chad McClellan of Stoystown, PA is in 4th with Quintin Wyandt of Hooversville, PA in 5th in his GM CT525 powered machine. 2-time 2011 winner Jared Hawkins of Fairmont, WV, Matt Dobnak of West Mifflin, PA, Danny Mitchell of Clarksburg, WV, Matt Lux of Franklin, PA and Jacob Hawkins of Fairmont WV round out the top 10.

After 9 amazing lead changes, Gary Dalton of Morgantown WV was the winner of that event at Elkins over Matt Lux of Franklin, PA and Billy Holbert of Fairmont, WV.

Gates will open at 5:00 PM with warm-ups at 7:30 and racing at 8:00 PM. Admission for the grandstand area is just $15 with children ages 11 and under free. Pit admission is $35.
The UFo Race Championship is an event marketing alliance among independent supertracks in the PA-WV-MD region. Participating speedways presents their own championship Super Late Model events under the UFo banner throughout the season using common tech and procedure rules with a year-end, group funded, point bonus for the top finishing drivers on the tour. Eligible tracks are within the 3 hour travel distance of the central point of Washington, PA.
