That's next weekend folks!

The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (formerly MSRA Late Models) races THIS FRIDAY night at USA Speedway in Sterlington, Louisiana and SATURDAY night at Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian, Louisiana!

In between, we're going to have a race car display and a driver meet and greet in Bossier City, Louisiana from 8:30 am to 10:30 am at Albertsons Grocery Store. SUPR is off, MSCCS is off so come on down!

It takes just under 2 hours to drive from USA Speedway in Sterlington to the Albertsons at 3121 E Texas St., Bossier City, LA. (1 hour 50 minutes -- I averaged 63 mph -- 115 miles or so)

Make a right on LA Hwy 2 when leaving the track and then another bear-right on US 165 South when you get to it. There's a Waffle House right there by the way at LA2/US165. Takes about 25-30 minutes to run through the lights in that part of Monroe and get on I-20 West. It goes from 65mph down to 50 in Monroe so be careful. Lot's of other eat places along the way if we ain't too late getting out. That'll be around mile marker 118 when you get on I-20. By mile marker 108, you're in a 70 mph zone and it stays that way all the way till you exit near mile marker 23, Industrial Drive in BC. Your GPS may want to take you to the Airline Drive exit. Don't do it -- especially with a rig. Take Industrial Drive exit, turn right and then at the next light, turn left onto east Texas. You'll go through one light on Texas and then before you get to the next one (Airline Dr.), Albertsons will be on your right.

Big parking lot. We'll be using half of it in front of the store. The half closest to the road. We'll be backing up the Childress transporter to the shoulder and suspending a car over it on the lift. We'll have an Ark-La-Tex Speedway banner below that. That should catch some eyes driving by.

*** The manager, Mr. Wesley has approved overnight parking Friday night/Saturday morning so feel free just don't attract the Bossier City PD. They are around for your protection and to protect others from you! You know the deal.... ***

There are lots of lights at night in the parking lot but the Albertsons sign will probably be turned off by then. If you get to K-Mart, you went too far. There's a Sonic right by where you turn in to Albertsons.

Lots of other restaurants nearby. A Chinese place and Chilis are in the same parking lot and within close walking distance. Across the street is a Shoguns Steak House and there's a Taco Bell & Burger King in site too. Lot's of others close by and a mall is just up Texas Street a short ways.

Casinos? 2 miles west is the Red River with all the major casinos. 2 miles east is the Harrah's Louisiana Downs Race Track & Casino. The Wild Orchid Lounge is in between Industrial Dr. and Albertsons on Texas. I don't know what they do in there -- never been -- but don't let your pastor find out you went. He might tell your wife! We're just a regular Vegas, aren't we? Well...slight exaggeration there...

I know this is an early deal (8:30AM after a race night and a 2 hour drive!) but it's so hot by 11AM it would not be worth it to do any later. You'll be feeling it about 10am. We appreciate the effort and we should draw a lot of attention at this spot in town. You can help the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series and your sport both locally and regionally by attending! Then eat, rest up, stay cool and get ready to do battle at the land of THREE-WIDE!

When you leave, you're only 45 minutes from Ark-La-Tex Speedway. You turn right on to Texas and then right on to Airline Drive, or...just go straight on Texas until you reach Benton Road and turn right. I personally despise Airline Drive. Follow either one until your reach I-220. Go west and get off towards Texarkana on US 71 north. Exit comes up right after the Red River bridge on I- TWO-twenty. (not to be confused with I-20 here) LA Hwy 1 northbound will 'Y' off of 71 to the left. Follow LA 1 toward Vivian. You'll eventually cross beautiful Caddo Lake! Then when you reach the Cash Magic Truck Stop & Casino on your left (before town), turn left on LA Hwy 2 westbound. Go two miles and turn right onto Boyter Lane. If you reach any part of Texas, you went too far. Go back. Another 2 miles down Boyter Lane and you're at the track. The gates will be open anytime during the day Saturday.

If you're thinking about running LA Hwy 2 from USA to Vivian don't unless your in a car (or maybe a pick-up and a small trailer) and want to take your time and sight see. And on top that you'll miss our car show and meet & greet in Bossier and we don't want that!

If you need it, Vivian does have a Walmart and a few restaurants and even a small motel.

More later...

Coming up THIS SATURDAY!!!

Track was remarkable this week given 15-20 mph winds, wildfires in the area (you could smell the smoke at the track) and 104 degrees! Ty Johnson of Eunice, Louisiana (cousin of Jason Johnson) won the Sprint Car race Saturday night and we had about 70 cars total on hand. Track crew did an outstanding job!!!

Now, it looks like we might get blessed with some rain this week with temps at least 10 degrees cooler!

It's going to be one of those 'can't miss it' kind of shows!!!!

COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Cajun Nation Invasion This Weekend

Beebe, Arkansas (06/21/11) – Seeking a reprieve from the weather the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) will return to action this weekend for a double shot in Louisiana.

The series was last in action two weeks ago on June 10th-11th, and after a great show at Malden Speedway (Malden, Missouri) on Friday night, where Wendell Wallace got his first win of the year, the tour was rained out on Saturday night at NEA Speedway (Harrisburg, Arkansas). The tour has now had five events this season impacted by weather.

Kyle Beard continues to lead the latest tour standings over Johnny Virden, Jon Mitchell, and Brandon Smith. Positions six through ten in the standings include Billy Moyer Jr., Curtis Cook, Austin Rettig, Shane Harris, and Gary Christian.

The Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year battle is currently being led by Vilonia, Arkansas' driver Curtis Cook with Shane Harris, Keith Lawson, and Ian Samuel in pursuit.

Other drivers expected to possibly be in action this weekend include Allen Murray, Dewaine Hottinger, Ray Moore, Jeff Sloan, Morgan Bagley Terry Henson, Wesley Crutchfield, Clay Fisher, BJ Robinson, and more.

On Friday night, June 24th the CCSDS tour will invade USA Speedway (Sterlington, Louisiana) with a $2,000 to win/$300 to start, 35 lap event. The first scheduled event at the facility for this season was postponed by Mother Nature. In 2010 Bill Frye and Jesse Stovall claimed victories with the tour at the 1/4 mile oval. Joining the CCSDS Super Late Models on the program will be Limiteds, B-Mods, Super Stocks, Hobby Stocks, Compacts, and Legneds. Gates open at 5pm with racing action at 8pm. Adult grandstand tickets are $15 with senior citizens (60 & Up) $13, while children 6-12 years of age are $10, and 5 & under are free. Pit passes are $30 for adults with kids 10 & under $15. For more information on the event, please visit www.USASpeedwayLLC.com.

Saturday night, June 25th will see the series make its inaugural trip to Gene Boyter's, Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) for a $2,000 to win/$400 to start, 35 lap event. The high-banked, 1/4 mile oval sees the return of Super Late Models for the first time in 2011 since the incredible show at the Pelican 100 back in February. A complete weekly racing series will accompany the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series. The pit gate opens at 4:30pm, with grandstands gates opening at 5:30. Hot laps are slated for 7pm with racing action at 7:30pm. In addition, there will be a race car display and a driver meet and greet in Bossier City, Louisiana from 8:30am to 10:30 m at Albertsons Grocery Store (3121 East Texas Street).
