Hey Guys,

This is my first year messing with Mods. ( My 20 yr old daughter is driving this year for the first time). I see a few guys running the LR shock behind the rear end. Most are in front, like ours. Just courious what the diff between the 2 are if much at all ?

THANKS
Kelly

The shock in front will act softer than it would behind due to different motion ratios. The closer the shock is mounted to the pivot point (ie, the front trailing arm mount), the less the shaft will move when the suspension moves, and since less shaft velocity = less dampening (typically), it will feel softer.

Now as to which is better, I don't think it matters. I like the shock in front personally since it provides less rebound and helps the car get on the bars easier. But I've seen guys be fast either way, front or behind, or with the shock broke clear off on a few occasions.
