CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 12 of the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series turned out to be a special Father’s Day Weekend with several drivers presenting their Dad’s an early gift. Pierce McCarter of Sevierville, TN, Jamey Boland of Cuba, AL, and Cody Kierre of Beebe, AR grabbed their first wins of the season in Week 12 competition.

McCarter picked up the first dirt late model win of his career on Thursday night in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region action in front of a packed house at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN driving the McCarter Farms Special. McCarter was in the right place, at the right time to win the race.

David Crabtree of Maryville, TN led the first 29 laps of the 30-lap race, with Greg Martin of Oliver Springs, TN right on his heels. Martin dove to the bottom of the race track in the first turn of the last lap and tried to slide up in front of Crabtree to take the lead, but came up short, as he slid into Crabtree, sending them both spinning to the infield.

McCarter was riding in the third spot after a race-long battle with Jason Welsham of Madisonville, TN for the position. Crabtree did a 360 degree spin and kept rolling before the caution flag came out, but during the caution period, he had a left-rear tire going flat. Crabtree elected to ride it out with the flat tire, and restarted in the lead followed by McCarter and Kayne Hickman of Soddy Daisy, TN.

The green-white-checkered restart saw the front trio go three-wide into turn one with McCarter on the inside, Crabtree’s wounded machine in the middle, and Hickman on the outside. McCarter took the lead down the backstretch, and he held off Hickman for the win.

Jake Teague of Oliver Springs, TN finished third, and the winner’s younger brother Mack McCarter of Sevierville, TN made 411 Motor Speedway owner Mitch McCarter an extra proud papa with a fourth-place finish. Brad Coffey of Maryville, TN rounded out the top five, and Crabtree hung on for an eighth-place finish.
