Ross Camponovo Registers Fifth Place Run in MSCCS Action
Clarksdale, Mississippi (06/21/11) – An extremely busy work schedule as well as wet weather has kept Ross Camponovo sidelined for much of the 2011 season, but he was able to return to action on Saturday night as he drove his #18 Camponovo Farms/Rocket/RPM Racing Engine Super Late Model to a fifth place finish in MSCCS action.
It was back to action for Ross on Saturday night as he entered a $2,500 to win, Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) event at his home track, Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi). Nineteen Super Late Models entered the event, and after setting second fast time in his group, he would race from the fourth starting spot to claim the dash win.
Via the dash win, he started on the pole for the feature, and would battle at the front of the pack for much of the event. However, the team would slightly miss the setup on the car, and he would ultimately slip to a fifth place finish behind race winner, Chad Thrash, Klint Byars, Dane Dacus, and Scott Creel. Despite not getting the win that he wanted, it was still a solid outing for the team and something to build on for sure. Full results are available at www.StateSeries.com.
