STARS Midwest Dirt Racing League/SRRS ready for Roger Breeding Memorial at Isom, KY
SOMERSET, KY (June 21, 2011)—The STARS Midwest Dirt Racing League presented by Arizona Sport Shirts will continue with its second of three Fourth of July Weekend races on Saturday Night July 2nd.
This event will have a special twist. The STARS MDRL Late Models are pleased to announce that the Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) will be co-sanctioning the event on Saturday Night July 2nd at Mountain Motor. Josh Putnam of Florence, Alabama leads the SRRS contingent into the Fourth of July weekend events with Michael Chilton of Salvisa, Kentucky leading the STARS MDRL Championship point standings.
Each series points racing events will come at the Calver Sturgill promoted Mountain Motor Speedway in Isom, Kentucky for the running of the 2nd Annual Roger Breeding Memorial event paying $3,000 to win / $300 to start for the STARS Midwest Dirt Racing League Late Models.
The event will feature a full slate of Practice, Group Time Trials, Heat Races, Consolation Races and the 40-lap main event. Also on the racing card will be the Open Wheel Modifieds, Bombers and 4-Cylinders. A fireworks show is expected to light up the night sky during intermission as well. A rain date has been announced just in case of inclement weather for Sunday Night July 3rd. Each series will receive two (2) series starting provisional spots to fill the 22-car field.
The Pit and Granstand Gates will open at 4:00 p.m. with the Driver’s Meeting set for 7:00 p.m. and Hot Laps will commence shortly after which will be around 7:30 p.m. Adult Grandstand Admission is $15.00 per person while Pit Passes will be $30.00.
This will be the lone season appearance to the 3/8th’s mile track located 25 minutes South of Hazard, Kentucky then located off of Highway 7 in Isom. The track phone on race day is (606) 633-0101.
The Tire Rule for the Mountain Motor Speedway event is Open Front with the Rear tires being Hoosier LM40/1600 or the American Racer MD56 and those tires must punch 60 prior to qualifying or any race. Steel Block engines must weigh 2200 lbs. minimum and Open Engines must weigh 2300 lbs. minimum with a pound per lap burn-off in all races. The STARS MDRL Entry Fee is $40.00 for members and $50.00 for non-members. Officials from MDRL and SRRS will be handling race direction that night.
After the trip to Mountain Motor Speedway the STARS MDRL will take a day off before heading north to the newly re-opened Southern Ohio Speedway in Wheelersburg, Ohio paying $5,000 to win / $375 to start for the STARS MDRL Late Models.
