Program Changes for 3 State Flyers vs. UFo “Hyper-Thunder by the Lake” at Tyler County, Hesston and Roaring Knob
(Mars, PA) After achieving a record fan count and high car count at the inaugural UFo event at Hesston Speedway, track owner DR Eriksen has made some modifications to the racing program for the upcoming 3 State Flyers vs. UFo “Hyper-Thunder by the Lake.” 3SF vs UFo “Hyper-Thunder by the Lake” will pay $5,000 to win for the Area-51 lap feature race on Sunday, July 3. This will be part of a $42,000 weekend for the UFo Race Championship as Tyler County Speedway will host the $4,000 to win UFo “Earl Hill ShootOut” on Saturday, July 2. The UFo Race Championship will make its 1st 2011 appearance at the Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex during the following weekend on Saturday, July 9.
The changes to the racing program at Hesston should assure a more prompt completion time for 3SF vs. UFo “Hyper-Thunder by the Lake,” while allowing the track’s regular divisions to compete. The Pro-Street, Hobby, Mod-4 and Factory-4 will compete in only feature races. This will eliminate 4 heat races that were run at the previous event as well as move the Hobby feature into the 1st racing session. Additionally, the Factory-4 feature will be run after completion of the Super Late Model and Late Model Sportsman racing program in the 2nd session of racing.
Super Late Model and LM Sportsman warm-ups will be moved into the 1st session before track prep, at approximately 6:30-6:45. The modifications to the racing program should also allow another short period for track prep before the Super LM feature to assure a track with maximum racing grooves. Pit gates will now open at 1:30, which should avoid delays in entering the pit area as race teams will now have more time to park. The outside pit area is also being reconfigured to accommodate more haulers.
3 State Flyers vs. UFo “Hyper-Thunder by the Lake” will be the 1st ever clash between the two racing tours. 26 cars will start the feature race to accommodate provisionals from each tour. With Hesston’s central location, a very strong field of Super Late Model drivers is expected to compete for the $5,000 to win 1st prize. The Area-51 lap feature event will pay $400 to start and non-qualifiers will receive $150.
Late Model fans will get a double show of late model action as the track’s Late Model Sportsman will compete in a 25-lap championship for $1,000 to win and $100 to start. The Late Model Sportsman had a thrilling photo-finish at the inaugural UFo event in May. The Pro-Street, Hobby, Mod-4 and Factory-4 will compete in features only. Drivers are reminded at Hesston RACEceviers are required and that a driver can compete in only 1 division at any racing program.

The UFo Super Late Models will make their 3rd appearance of 2011 at the Tyler County Speedway the night before Hesston. The “Earl Hill ShootOut” on Saturday July 2 will pay $4,000 to win and $400 to start for the Area 51-lap feature. Non qualifiers will receive $150.
The average car count at Tyler County for UFo events this year is strong at 38. Jared Hawkins of Fairmont, WV captured the April UFo event at the track. Hawkin’s win was from the 13th position in a race where the top 5 advanced 74 positions. Zack Dohm of Cross Lanes, WV and Keith Barbara of South Park, PA raced side by side for 18 of the final 20 laps at the July event. Dohm came out the winner of one of the best side-by-side battles ever.
At Tyler County, the FASTRAK Pro-Lates, TSMA E-mods & Hot Mods, Mod-Lites, Eco-Flyers and junior-age Mini-Wedges will also be on the program. Pit gates are scheduled to open at 3:30, grandstands at 4:30, Mini Wedge racing at 5:30, warm-ups at 6:30 and racing at 7:00 PM. Grandstand admission is $18 with a $2 discount available between 4:30 and 5:30 PM. Children 10 & under are free in the grandstands and all pit tickets will be $33.

UFo “Supernational Road” will showcase a 41-lap Super Late Model feature paying $3,000 to win, $300 to start and $150 for non-qualifiers. This will be the 1st of 3 UFo Race Championship appearances at Roaring Knob in 2011.
Roaring Knob has generated excellent top-to-bottom racing action at UFo events and this initial 2011 race is highly anticipated. 2010 UFo winners at Roaring Knob include Jeremy Miller of Littlestown, PA, Jamie Lathroum of Mechanicsville, MD and Jason Covert of Lock Haven, PA.
