MARKLEYSBURG, PA (June 25, 2011) – Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex was able to beat Mother Nature and get in it’s eight show of the season. Kyle Burkholder (Ft. Necessity Garage Chargers) and Casey Fleegle (FWD 4 Cylinder Roadrunners) grabbed their first feature wins of 2011 at RKMP. Scott Rhodes won the American Racer Tire Super Late Model feature for the second time this year. Three drivers scoring their third wins of 2011 were Nolan Dalton (Krause Electric FASTRAK Late Models), Louie Krushansky (Modifieds) and Todd Dennis (TC Race Parts Street Stocks). Mindy Miller and Jen Vogel sped to the Miss Penelope’s Powder Puff win feature wins.

Mill Run’s Kyle Burkholder was looking to shake off some bad luck in the Ft. Necessity Garage Chargers. Burkholder started outside front row and shot into the lead at the drop of the green. Burkholder was challenged by Brad Jenkins and then his older brother Kenny all 12-laps before taking his first win of the 2011 season. Kenny Burkholder was second over Marty Spade, Jr., JT Baird (from 13th), CJ Nicola, Bennie Dennis, Justin Howell, Ed Vogel, Terry Mitchell and Jim Tush. Heat wins went to Kyle Burkholder and Spade.

Scott Rhodes started on the pole and led all 25-laps to earn his second American Racer Tire Super Late Model feature. Somerset’s Rhodes went uncontested to beat Bob Gordon, Chuck Harper, Billy Holbert and Matt Cosner. Sixth through tenth were Dan Lee, Danny Pugh, Gary Gellner, Jim Pyles and Doug Glessner. Pugh and Rhodes won preliminaries.

Todd Dennis out raced Bob Nelson into turn one at the start of the 15-lap TC Race Parts Street Stock feature. Nelson stayed glued to Dennis’ bumper before Jim Bendishaw, Jr., relieved him of second on laps seven. Dennis, of Newell, drove off and claimed his 31st win of his career. Behind Dennis and Bendishaw were Bob Nelson, Joe Wrona, Grady Palmer, Bob Neratka, Matt Rischel, Bob Miller, Barry Farris and Jason Gibbs. Heats were won by Nelson and Wrona.

The best feature of the night belonged to the 20-lap Krause Electric FASTRAK Late Models. Troy Shields powered into the lead at the start. Shields looked to be on his way to victory holding off Nolan Dalton lap after lap. The pair raced side by side for over half the race before Dalton was able to make the winning pass with just five laps to go. From there the Morgantown, WV driver drove off to his third A-Main feature win. Shields held on for second followed by Ricky Meglaye, John Over, Ryan Montgomery, Bobby Cossell, Russell Baird, Jr., LC Powers, Harley Kerns and Jim Kutas. Meglaye and Shields were heat winners.

Morgantown, WV’s Louie Krushansky took over the top spot when leader Josh Cramer spun on laps two to win the 15-lap Modified feature event. First time visitor Jonathan Taylor passed Kevin Miller and closed in on the leader. Taylor drove hard into turn one and almost spun allowing Krushansky some breathing room out front. Taylor finished second over Miller, Bruce Dreistadt, Larry Atha and Josh Cramer. Krushansky won the lone heat.

Two time winner Steve Settle set the pace in the 10-lap FWD 4 Cylinder Roadrunner feature. Settle, Andrew Pluta, Jr. and Casey Fleegle put on a show for the fans going back and forth, running three wide at times. Fleege eventually took over the top spot for good on lap seven and held on for his first win in his first visit to Roaring Knob. Andrew Pluta, Jr. was second ahead of Settle, Daniel Jackson, Todd Detrick, Cindy Rhodes, Bernie Blair, Jr., Dustin Detrick, Robert Pluta and Paul Koffler, Jr. The two heat winners were Koffler and Andrew Pluta, Jr.

A pair of big events start out the month of July at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex. Coming up next week, July 2 is Sky Boom. A huge Fireworks Extravaganza will take place along with racing in the American Racer Tire Super Late Models, Krause Electric FASTRAK Late Models, TC Race Parts Street Stocks, Modifieds, Ft. Necessity Garage Chargers and FWD 4 Cylinder Roadrunners.

The following week, July 9, finds the first visit of 2011 for the UFo Super Late Models. The 41 lap feature event will pay $3000 to win. Joining them on the card that night will be the Krause Electric FASTRAK Late Models, TC Race Parts Street Stocks, Modifieds, Ft. Necessity Garage Chargers and FWD 4 Cylinder Roadrunners.

Thanks for the kind words but Bobby Roy is the crewchief...if it wasn't for him, we wouldn't even make it to the track most of the time.
