Matt Hamilton Bags American Modified Series Bandit Race Cars 30 at Florence Speedway

Union, KY-June 25, 2011- The American Modified Series would make its first-ever appearance at the King’s Florence Speedway in Union, KY on Saturday evening for the Bandit Race Cars 30 and Matt Hamilton of Aurora, IN would retake the lead on the final lap to pick up his first-ever American Modified Series victory in the tour’s first ever visit to the ˝ mile historic Northern Kentucky facility.

Matt Hamilton would take the lead on the opening lap of the Bandit Race Cars 30, only to have Joey Kramer take the lead one circuit later. Kramer would lead until lap 17 when he would surrender the race lead to Chris Stotts. Stotts would hold onto the top spot until lap 23 when Hamilton would retake the race lead. Stotts would continue to dog Hamilton for the top spot and would have the lead when the white flag was displayed. Hamilton’s win would come behind the wheel of the Hamilton Motorsports owned Gilday’s Auto/Noble Electric/Schmoes Collision sponsored #9H Diamond Race Car, powered by a Travis Kern Race Engine.

Chris Stotts would hold on to take runner-up honors, with series points leader Joey Kramer claiming a third place finish. Bryan Barber and Tyler Boggs would complete the top five.

The remainder of the top ten would be Pete Holt, Michael England, Josh Lucas, John Demoss, and Kyle Schornick. The 30 lap event would be slowed by six caution periods and would take 28 minutes to complete.

In preliminary action, Joey Kramer was the Williams Precision Engines Top Qualifier among 48 entries at 17.162 seconds. Trent Young would win Hypercoil heat one, while Matt Hamilton won Wiles Driveshafts heat two. Tyler Boggs would take VP Racing Fuels heat three and John Demoss would score Comp Cams heat four.
