CARTERSVILLE, GA – Several drivers made moves within the Top 10 of the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings in both the Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region and the West Region after Week 13 competition. Jimmy Elkins Jr. of Talladega, AL leads the OMG East Region standings and Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS leads the West Region standings.

Elkins turned in his ninth top five finish of the season on Saturday night driving the ADP Special at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. Elkins has 671 points with three wins in 12 races. Elkins, along with several others drivers, are closing in on the 14 week mark, and after that will begin trying to replace their lowest point week with a better point week.

Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL continues to chip away at Elkins’ point lead, as he took his second straight win and third of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in the Adam Gauldin Racing GRT. Gauldin is second in the Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region standings with 641 points, 30 behind Elkins. Gauldin has three wins, ten top fives and 13 top tens in 13 starts.

Brian Ponder of Talladega, AL is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region standings with 612 points. Ponder is 29 points behind Gauldin and has a 37-point advantage over the two drives tied for the fourth spot.

Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL posted his sixth win of the season on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL driving the Maher Motorsports GRT. The win moved Maher into a tie for the fourth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region standings with Doug Ludwig of Grantville, GA at 575 points apiece.

Russ Ogletree of Phenix City, AL is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region standings with 565 points followed by Mike Combs of Odenville, AL in seventh with 547 points, and Chris Griffin of Flomaton, AL in eighth with 500 points.

Ken Pate of Pell City, AL and Trey White of Jenkinsburg, GA round out the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region standings after the first 13 weeks of competition in a tie for the ninth spot with 465 points apiece.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region Week 13 action, 15-year-old Matt Dooley of Brooks, GA drove the RSD Rocket to his first win of the season on Saturday night at New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA. The Friday night Week 13 OMG East Region race at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL was rained out.

McDuffie had a pair of top five finishes in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Week 13 action to remain on top of the points list, but he has a new driver behind him in the second spot. The 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region Champion has 635 points with four wins, 13 top five finishes and 15top ten finishes in 15 starts driving the H.E. Mosley, Inc., Trak-Star.

With only the top point total for a week counting in the Best 14 Regional total, McDuffie has competed in 12 weeks of competition, and has two more weeks to record full points. McDuffie can still collect another 50 bonus points with another night of perfect attendance at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Landon Frith of Terry, MS took his second win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park driving the Touch of Class Body Shop Special. The win moved Frith up to the second spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 597 points, 38 points behind McDuffie.

Frith has two wins, nine top fives, and 15 top tens in 16 starts. Frith has earned points in 11 weeks of West Region competition, and can still earn 25 more Regional Bonus Points before reaching the maximum of 100 that can be added to his Regional point total.

Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 583 points for a three point advantage over the red-hot fourth-place driver.

Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL drove the Century Dedicated, Inc. Trak-Star to his sixth win of the season on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park, and is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 580 points.

Randy Boyd of Marion, MS dropped from second to fifth in Week 13 and now has 563 points. Larry Murphy of Meridian, MS is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 547 points.

Lamar Furr of Hollandale, MS took his second win of the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season in West Region action on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS driving the Geddies Repair GRT. That moved Furr up to the seventh spot in the West Region standings with 535 points. Tim Dees of Meridian, MS is eighth with 533 points.

Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS drove the Lawson Construction Special to his first NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region win of the season on Saturday night at Drew County Speedway in Monticello, AR. The “West Region Traveler” is ninth in the West Region standings with 530 points. Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS rounds out the top ten in the West Region standings with 523 points.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Week 13 action, Mike Boland of Cuba, AL drove The Strength Center Trak-Star to a $1,000 victory on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS. Roger Witt of Batesville, AR posted his fourth win of the season on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR driving The Chrome Shop GRT.

Kyle Berry of Malden, MO took his second West Region win of the season on Friday night at Malden Speedway in Malden, MO driving the Berry Racing Special. Veteran Bill Frye of Greenbrier, AR drove the Marple Auto Sales GRT to his second West Region win of the season on Saturday night at Centerville Speedway in Centerville, AR. Friday night West Region action at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS was rained out.

There is a new point leader in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge, as wins from Gauldin, Maher, Furr, Witt, and Frye put three-time champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR on top of the list with 33 wins in the first 13 weeks of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season.

The defending and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL had wins in Week 13 from McRee and Boland, and is second in the point standings with 31 wins. Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV is third with 11 victories after a Week 13 win from Dooley.

Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is fourth with one win. Also participating in the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge and still looking for their win of the season are TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN and Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN.
