Michael England Da’ Man in AMS Midwest Modified Mania at Moler Raceway Park

Williamsburg, OH- July 1, 2011- The American Modified Series would visit Moler Raceway Park and Michael England of Glasgow, KY would score the win in the Midwest Modified Mania event and take home $1,500 for his efforts at the Kevin and Kim Moler promoted ¼ mile semi-high banked clay oval.

Bryan Barber would take the lead at the drop of the green flag and would hold the top spot for the first eleven circuits before England would drive past Barber for the race lead on a restart on lap 12. England would roll out to a five car length lead at times, while Barber would have his hands full with previous AMS winner Matt Hamilton and later Weasel Rhodes would pressure Barber for second. England would survive four cautions in the final ten laps of the event, one that would result in a red flag, to claim his second career American Modified Series victory and first of the 2011 race season. England’s victory would come behind the wheel of the WompusCat Enterprises owned Tri County Oil and Auto/Horton Racing/Williams and Tucker Auto Parts/Waterhead Motorsports/Kentucky Cycle Salvage/Davis Machine Shop/D&D Dairy/Simpson Machine and Fabrication sponsored #10.5 Lightning Chassis, Pro Power Race Engines powered machine. England’s mount carries product support from All Star Performance, Wiles Driveshafts, Bilstein, and Bassett Wheels.

The battle for second would come down to the final lap as Weasel Rhodes of Sardinia, OH would nip Bryan Barber of Greensburg, KY at the checkered for the runner-up slot. Thirteenth place starter Doug Adkins of West Portsmouth, OH and Devin Gilpin of Columbus, IN would complete the top five.

The remainder of the top ten would be twenty-first and series provisional starting John Demoss of Bloomington, IN, Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN Broc Burton of Columbus, IN, Jeff Bland, Jr. of Springville, IN, and 16th place starter Pete Holt of Independence, KY. The event would be slowed by six cautions, one of which would result in a red flag, and take 34 minutes and 23 seconds to complete.

In preliminary action, Bryan Barber was the Williams Precision Engines Top Qualifier among 42 entries at 13.966 seconds. Michael England would win Hypercoils heat one, while Broc Burton won Wiles Driveshafts heat two. Bryan Barber would take VP Racing Fuels heat three and Joey Kramer would score Comp Cams heat four. Rick Curtin would win Racing Head Service B-Main #1, while Shawn Tolson would take the victory in Comp Cams B-Main #2.

The next scheduled events for the American Modified Series will be the Bob Poynter Auto Group Hoosier State Challenge with a Friday July 8 event at Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, IN for the JB Salvage, Inc. 30 and a Saturday July 9 event at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN for the Boknecht Trucking 30. The Bob Poynter Auto Group Hoosier State Challenge will pay the top five point netters that weekend a $1,000 total point fund ($300, $250, $200, $150, and $100). Both of these events will pay $1,500 to win.
