AMS Bob Poynter Auto Group Hoosier State Challenge at Bloomington July 8 and Brownstown July 9

Glasgow, KY-July 3, 2011- The American Modified Series continues its championship march for 2011 this weekend with the Bob Poynter Auto Group Hoosier State Challenge at Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, IN on Friday July 8 for the JB Salvage, Inc. 30 and a first-ever visit to Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN on Saturday July 9 for the Boknecht Trucking 30. Both events will pay $1,500 to the winner.

The Bob Poynter Auto Group Hoosier State Challenge will pay the top five point netters at the Bloomington and Brownstown events a $1,000 points fund for their weekend efforts. The top five in points for the weekend will earn the following money: 1st- $300, 2nd- $250, 3rd- $200, 4th- $150, 5th- $100.

On Friday July 8 at Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, IN, the American Modified Series will present a full program of practice, A-B group time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 30 lap, $1,500 to win JB Salvage, Inc. 30 A-Main event. Other divisions in competition at Bloomington Speedway on July 8 will be the track’s UMP Super Stocks, Hornets, and UMP Bombers. Make-up features for the UMP Super Stocks and Hornets from a June 17 rainout will also be contested.

On Saturday July 9 at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN, the American Modified Series will present a full program of practice, A-B group time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 30 lap, $1,500 to win Boknecht Trucking 30 A-Main event. Other divisions in competition at Brownstown Speedway on July 9 will be the track’s ILMS Late Models, Bombers, UMP Super Stocks, and UMRA TQ Midgets.

Activities for the July 8 date at Bloomington Speedway will see the pit area open at 4:30 p.m., with the general admission area open at 5:30 p.m. The driver’s meeting will be at 6:20 p.m., with practice set for 6:30 p.m., followed by time trials at 7:00 p.m., and racing at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices for the July 8 Bloomington Speedway event will see general admission ticket prices be $12, with children ages 12 and under free with a paying adult, while a pit pass will be $25.

Activities for the July 9 date at Brownstown Speedway will see the pit area open at 3:00 p.m., with the general admission area also open at 3:00 p.m. The driver’s meeting will be at 5:00 p.m., with practice set for 5:30 p.m., followed by time trials at 6:00 p.m., with green flag racing immediately following time trials. Ticket prices for the July 9 Brownstown Speedway event will see general admission ticket prices be $15, with children ages 12 and under free with a paying adult, while a pit pass will be $30.

The A-Main purse for the July 8 Bloomington Speedway JB Salvage, Inc. 30 and the July 9 Brownstown Speedway Boknecht Trucking 30 is as follows: 1st- $1,500, 2nd- $750, 3rd- $600, 4th- $550, 5th- $500, 6th- $450, 7th- $400, 8th- $350, 9th- $325, 10th- $300, 11th- $275, 12th- $250, 13th- $230, 14th- $220, 15th through 22nd- $200 to start.

Bloomington Speedway is a ¼ mile semi-high banked red clay oval promoted by Mike and Judy Miles. Bloomington Speedway is located at 5185 South Fairfax Road, just off of Old State Road 37. Brownstown Speedway is a ¼ mile semi-banked clay oval promoted by Tim Keithley. Brownstown Speedway is located on Highway 250 at the Jackson County Fairgrounds, one mile southeast of Brownstown Speedway. The American Modified Series last competed on July 1 at Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, OH and Michael England would win the Midwest Modified Mania event on the tour that features some of America’s toughest racers without front fenders. Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN is the current series points leader, holding a 30 marker advantage over Bryan Barber of Greensburg, KY. The remainder of the top five in tour points are Michael England of Glasgow, KY, John Demoss of Bloomington, KY, and Kelly Warren of Columbia, KY.
