guys i have an older ellis chssis 355 motor and a gm 3 speed...543 gears in a 9inch...my question is if i run a stock style clutch and pressure plate till i get a good trany am i screwing myself? i also have a powerglide i can run as well....please help

Hey I have a older ellis with a 402 sbc and I have a gm 3-speed with a $100.00 racing disc, stock pressure plate. Second year on it.

I would stick with the 3 speed over the glide. I have a triple disc and a hydro throw out bearing that I would sell for $200. plus shipping. once you get the bellhousing clutch and trany thats could be sold at the end of the season for 450 to 500 to put toward a bert, used ones are going from 600 on up.the triple disc lets you run a flex plate which is much liter than a stock flywheel and a h ell of a lot safer. the liter wt helps on corner exit.
