Reese’s Tire Samples Cleared By Testing Lab / SAS Points Chase Heats Up

For Immediate Release

Clinton, TN (July 3rd, 2011) Brian Reese of Sharpsburg, Georgia claimed his first ever Super Late Model victory on Saturday night June 25th at Smoky Mountain Speedway. Reese claimed $5,000 for the Big Daddy 500 win.

Samples of Reese’s left rear tire were taken following his top qualifying run during his victorious night at Smoky Mountain Speedway on June 25th and were sent to an independent testing lab for analysis. The lab indicated that Reese’s tire samples do conform to the Hoosier factory benchmark tires.

With his win, Reese has now put himself in serious contention for the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series 2011 Points Championship.

William Thomas of Phenix City, Alabama has led the series points chase for most of the 2011 season and continues to maintain the lead by 60 markers over David Payne of Murphy, North Carolina; Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, TN is 64 points back and Tommy Kerr of Maryville, TN is 74 points back in 4th while Brian Reese rounds out the top five, 138 points behind the leader.

Once the season is complete, by series rules, each driver’s worst two finishes or non-appearances will be deleted from the final points tally. Each driver with perfect attendance at season’s end will be awarded three bonus points per event attended.

If the points chase were to end today, the final tally would be somewhat different than the current point total. Listed below are the current standings, followed by the current standings, minus two drops from each drivers total and the current bonus points accrued to date by each driver with perfect attendance so far.

Drivers with perfect attendance include Thomas, Ogle, Kerr, Skip Arp and Tony Knowles. This tally reflects only fifty points currently separate the top five. Knowles is only 66 points behind the leader in sixth while Shane Clanton and Skip Arp are each within striking distance in seventh and eighth; Chad Ogle and Ray Cook round out the top ten.
