View Full Version : Rhoades uses stellar weekend to increase point lead in the CMC

Cincy Mod Championship
07-05-2011, 04:45 PM
The U.S. Race Gear Cincinnati Modified Championship presented by Gabbard's Mt. Orab Ford and B&B Auto Care would see Lightning strike twice this weekend as Michael England and John Weasel Rhoades would capture features in their Lightning Chassis. Moler Raceway Park on Friday saw a great field of cars show up for the $1500 to win AMS feature. Up front Bryan Barber would battle with Michael England while all eyes were on Matt Hamilton as he and Joey Kramer started to make the high side work. Early on these two were the fastest but they would eventually wear what cushion was left up high and would make contact with the Moler concrete. Kramer would only glance the wall and lose a couple of positions while Hamilton would make hard contact eventually causing a yellow. On the restart England would finally settle his battle with Barber and take the lead for good. Rhoades was charging to the front the entire race and charged around Barber as the white flag flew to gain 2nd and put Barber back to 3rd.

On Sunday Night the CMC would make it's first appearance at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex in Peebles, Ohio. At the end of the night John Weasel Rhoades, who has more wins at Brushcreek in a Modifies than anyone would capture the checkers. Dustin Webber would lead early before breaking and Shon Flannery would challenge before suffering a flat. In the end though it would be all Weasel Rhoades followed by David Mcwilliams and Scott Edminsten. Rhoades becomes the first driver to win a CMC race at all 4 tracks and the first driver to win at 3 tracks in one season. Florence Speedway is the only CMC track he has not won at this year but he won the closer at Florence in 2010.

Hamilton and Rhoades have reached the 15 race mark and will now start replacing bad finishes with good ones and the point race should tighten up as other drivers approach the 15 race mark. Brushcreek is right back in action this Wednesday with a huge race. The CMC modifieds will be part of Steven Partin's Hidden Gem. A huge late model race where proceeds go to a college scholarship fund. On Friday the action returns to Moler Raceway Park and On Sunday the Modifieds head over to Lawrenceburg as they will be part of the 3rd leg of Indiana Sprint Week.
