Independence Day Championship at Tri-County Postponed to July 15; Format Revamped

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) The Tri-County Race Track had planned on hosting their ‘Independence Day Championship’ last night, July 4, but Mother Nature swept in and unfortunately stole the show. After a day to think things over and review area track schedules, promoter Ray Cook has opted to reschedule the program to Friday night, July 15. However, the format for the show has been altered slightly, as well as admission prices, starting times, etc.

There will now be six classes in action during the ‘Independence Day Championship’ on July 15 at the Brasstown, North Carolina bullring. The Super Late Models ($1,200 to win), Limited Late Models ($1,000 to win), Crate Late Models ($700 to win), Modified Hobby ($300 to win), Street Enduro ($250 to win), and Pony ($250 to win) divisions will all be in competition. There will be no entry fees in any of the six divisions!

“We were looking forward to putting on another $3,000 to win show for the Super Late Models on July 4, but the weather didn’t cooperate with us,” quoted Cook today via telephone. “The fans have been calling me all day about the reschedule date and the fireworks show, so we wanted to do something fairly quickly. Unfortunately, there are so many Super Late Model races in the area the next couple of weeks that we couldn’t really justify doing a $3,000 to win show at this time. However, each of the classes will be running for extra money on July 15 and the fans will get their money’s worth with six classes!”

Grandstand admission will be $12.00 for adults, $6.00 for kids 6-12, and children five and under will be admitted for free with a paying adult. Pit admission on July 15 will be $25.00 for adults, $12.00 for kids 6-12, and children five and under will once again be free with a paying adult. Pit gates will open at 3:00 p.m., while the grandstands will open an hour later at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with racing action slated for 7:30 p.m. There will be a huge fireworks show to cap off the exciting evening.

In other news, Ray has also announced that their will now be a ‘Labor Day Championship’ race held at the Tri-County Race Track on Monday, September 5 featuring Super Late Models for $3,000 to win. Keep checking www.tricountyracetrack.com for additional news as the race draws near.
