Lucas Oil Late Model Series at Magnolia Motor Speedway this Weekend!

Columbus, Mississippi (07/06/11) – Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi is eagerly preparing for The Columbus Convention and Visitor's Bureau Clash at the Mag this weekend, July 7th-9th, which will see the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) competitors attempting to tame the "Black Ice" in pursuit of a $20,000 to win/$1,000 to start purse.

In an event that will boast over $70,000 in prize money, the top Super Late Model pilots in the nation will be taking aim on the 3/8 mile oval. Last year saw a record crown, three and four wide racing, and multiple leaders as Jacksonville, Florida's Earl Pearson Jr. claimed the win in the thriller.

Four time series champion' Pearson will be back this year to defend his race title, as will two time defending series champion, Scott Bloomquist (Tennessee). These two drivers will lead a field of expected entries that will represent more than ten states. National touring drivers expected include Jimmy Owens (Tennessee), Jared Landers (Arkansas), Steve Francis (Kentucky), Don O'Neal (Indiana), Mike Marlar (Kentucky), Tyler Red(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) (California), Ray Cook (North Carolina), Frank Heckenast Jr. (Illinois), Billy Moyer (Arkansas), Clint Smith (Georgia), Bub McCool (Mississipi), Chris Wall (Louisiana), Dale McDowell (Georgia), Shane Clanton (Georgia), Brad Neat (Kentucky), John Blankenship (West Virginia), Wendell Wallace (Arkansas), Steve Casebolt (Indiana), and more.

The national drivers will see a talented field of regional drivers looking to keep the big money in the south including Ronny Lee Hollingsworth (Alabama), Billy Moyer Jr. (Arkansas), Morgan Bagley (Texas), Rodney Wing (Mississippi), Klint Byars (Mississippi), Will Vaught (Missouri), Dane Dacus (Tennessee) Rick Rickman (Mississippi), David Breazeale (Mississippi), Brian Rickman (Mississippi), Eric Cooley (Mississippi), Jason Cliburn (Mississippi), Chad Thrash (Mississippi), Chip Brindle (Georgia), Jimmy Cliburn (Mississippi), Leon Henderson (Mississippi), and more.

The action opens on Thursday, July 7th with an Open Practice Session for all divisions from 7pm to 10pm. Grandstand admission is free and pit admission is $20.

On Friday, July 8th the event kicks into high gear as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will host time trials and heat race action. In addition, Street Stocks will battle in a $400 to win/$35 to start event, while the NeSmith Dirt Late Models will battle for $700 to win/$40 to start. Action starts at 8pm on Friday.

Saturday night, July 9th will see the LOLMDS Super Late Models contesting b-main action as well as the 100 lap, main event, which will be taped by the SPEED TV cameras for a future broadcast. Street Stocks will battle in a $600 to win/$60 to start event, while the NeSmith Dirt Late Models will battle for $1,000 to win/$50 to start. Mini Stocks will also be in action as they battle in a $400 to win/$35 to start event. Action starts at 7pm on Saturday.

On Friday night and Saturday night Grandstand admission is $25 for adults with kids 6-10 $5, and children 5 & under free. Pit admission is $35 with kids 6-10 years of age $25, and 5 & under free.

Two-day grandstand adult passes are available for $40. Two day adult pit passes are available for $65 and are $40 for kids 6-10 years of age. Three day adult pit passes are available for $80 for adults and $50 for kids 6-10 years of age.
