Ronny Lee Hollingsworth Scores First Win of 2011

Northport, Alabama (07/06/11) – Ronny Lee Hollingsworth finally got the monkey off his back for 2011 as he not only claimed his first feature win of the year on Saturday, but he also claimed a new track record along the way in the #18 Flynn Motorsports/Warrior/Clement Racing Engine Super Late Model.

Just a week after heavily damaging his brand new Warrior Chassis in its first night out at Jackson Motor Speedway, Ronny Lee and Flynn Motorsports returned to action on Saturday night with a $2,000 to win, PRO Dirt Car Series event at Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi), and he would come away with his first win of the season!

Twenty-five Super Late Models entered the event, and Hollingsworth would start the night by shattering the track record in time trials to set fast time overall, which earned him the pole position for the feature event. He was joined on the front row by previous, track record holder, Klint Byars. The duo would battle for the lead for much of the event before Hollingsworth stretched his advantage late in the race to claim the win over Byars, David Breazeale, Chad Thrash, and Rodney Wing. The team concluded their holiday weekend on Monday evening at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) in an event originally scheduled for Sunday evening, but which was delayed a day by rain. With 23 Super Late Models entered, Ronny Lee qualified fourth fastest in his group to lock into the 8th starting spot for the $2,000 to win, 40 lap feature. For the first half of the feature, Ronny Lee would battle around midpack before mounting a late race charge, which saw him race his way to a fourth place finish behind race winner, Chris Wall, Klint Byars, and Eric Cooley. With momentum on his side, Ronny Lee will return to action this weekend, July 7th-9th, as many of the nation's best drivers invade his backyard for the Clash at the Mag at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) for the $20,000 to win/$1,000 to start event. The weekend gets underway with an Open Practice Session on Thursday night before seeing time trials and heat race action contested on Friday night. The weekend will conclude with b-mains and the 100 lap finale on Saturday night as the SPEED TV cameras catch all of the action for a future broadcast.
