Billy Moyer Back in Victory Lane at Pevely; Eyes Clash at the Mag this Weekend!

(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) "Mr. Smooth" Billy Moyer racked up his series-leading 79th career UMP Summer Nationals victory on Saturday night, July 2 at the I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri! Billy timed in second fastest in his group during qualifying and later won his stacked heat race. After drawing the fourth starting spot prior to the beginning of the 40-lap main event, Billy swapped the lead early in the race with fellow Victory Circle by Moyer driver Shannon Babb before gaining the top spot for good on the fourteenth circuit. The Batesville, Arkansas native kept the talented field behind him for the remainder of the event to score the $10,000 triumph over Dennis Erb, Matt Miller, Shannon Babb, and Austin Dillon.

Earlier in the weekend, the Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) team competed in two additional "Hell Tour" programs. On Thursday evening at the Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, Tennessee, Billy laid down the fastest lap overall during qualifying, won his heat race, and finished a strong runner-up behind winner Mike Spatola in the $5,000 to win A-Main. At the Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky on Friday, Billy once again won his heat race prior to posting a third place effort in the $12,000 to win feature event behind only winner Ray Cook and runner-up Shannon Babb. Full results from the tripleheader weekend for the #21 team can be accessed online at www.thehelltour.com.

“It was nice to get back into victory lane again, as we have racked up quite a few seconds and thirds since our last win,” commented Moyer following the Pevely victory. “That place has always kind of suited me and my driving style, but it has changed a lot in the last year or so. We had to do our homework, but the car was pretty good all night. It was fun to race Shannon (Babb) for the lead and hopefully he keeps running strong on that Summer Nationals deal.”

Following the win in the Show-Me State, the BMR team has now turned their attention to the annual ‘Clash at the Mag’ at the Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi on July 8-9. Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying and heat race action will take place on Friday night, while the consolation races and 100-lap feature event will thrill the fans on Saturday evening. The cameras of the SPEED Channel will be on hand to tape the $20,000 to win mega-event for broadcast in the upcoming months.
