ELKINS RACEWAY ANNOUNCES INAUGURAL JIM HITT MEMORIAL
Management at the new Elkins Raceway wishes to announce the beginning of a new tradition with the inaugural Jim Hitt
Memorial, a race to honor the memory of long-time racer Jim Hitt, who passed away during the recent off-season.
The track’s new event will be at least a $3,000-to-win event for the Woodford Oil/Renegade Racing Fuel Super Late Models on Friday, August 5. The program will also include the Valley Supply FASTRAK Pro-Lates, Miller’s Used Cars AMRA E-Mods, Street Stocks, and MWRA Mini-Wedges.
Some details are still in the planning stages; the Late Model portion of the program will include time trials (one lap), and a dash, plus heats and consi if needed. Tim Hitt, Jim’s son, will be racing for the first time in several years, in a “throwback” pink #99 resembling his Dad’s former race car. Lap sponsorships will also be sold; all money collected will be added to the purse, and sponsorship funds may be directed to whatever position the buyer wants. Interested lap sponsors may call Jeff at (304)636-4534, contact Anthony at Rocket Chassis at (304)592-3200, or see any race official on race night.
Sponsors already involved with the inaugural Hitt Memorial include Port City Racing, Roy’s RV Supercenter, Spanky’s Bar & Grill in Weston WV, Hardrock Powder Coating in Shinnston WV, J-Rod’s Vending, Performance Bodies from Cedar Falls IA, and Dohm’s Cycle Shop in Charleston, the leader of lap 25 will receive a wrap for the 2012 season sponsored by J&M Grafix of Weston, STUTLER MOTORSPORT llc of jane lew has just thrown in $500 for the hard charger of the race.
Remember, you, the fan can be a part of this event, sponsor as many laps or positions as you want, the more we sell, the more the drivers win! More details will be made public once they are worked out. Updates as they happen will be posted on elkinsraceway.net
dont forget July 22 is the skidmore memorial 2000 for supers and 1000 for fastrack
and august 19 is the armstrong classic
