UFo and ULMS Face off at PPMS on July 23!
(Mars, PA) UFo and ULMS will clash for the 1st time in 2011 at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway on Saturday, July 23. The UFo vs. ULMS “F-2 Shockwave” will pay $4,000 total to win for twin 28-lap features.
The twin feature format and PPMS’s wide, racey surface has always generated spectacular racing action and distributes the payoff better among more race teams. Davey Johnson and Michael Davis spilt the UFo wins at the track at the “PENNational” in June. The FASTRAK Pro-Lates will race for $550, E-mods for $450 and Cadets for $350 with open brand tire rules in the Super Late Models, E-mods and Cadets that night. The Hobby & Young Guns will also be in action.
At PPMS on July 23, gates open at 5:00 with warm-ups at 6:00 and racing at 7:00 following track prep. Grandstands will be $20, seniors $19, junior 13-16 $10, children 7-12 $5 and $35 for all pit tickets.
The payoff for the UFo/ULMS Super Late Models at the “PENNational” at PPMS is (each race pays ˝): 1st-$4,000 2nd-$2,000 3rd-$1,400 4th-$1,000 5th-$800 6th-$700 7th-$600 8th-$550 9th-$525 10th-$500 11th-$475 12th-$450 13th-$440 14th-$425 15th-$400 16th-$390 17th-$375 18th-$375 19th-$375 20th-$375 21st-$350 22nd-$350 23rd-$350 24th-$350 $150 paid to all cars that DNQ that make 1 lap on the track under their own power. UFo Race Championship events have NO car entry fee and NO driver membership fees.
Devin Friese of Chambersburg, PA continues to lead the UFo point standings, coming off 2 consecutive wins at Roaring Knob and Dog Hollow. Jared Miley of South Park, PA, who won the July 2 event at Tyler County, is in second. Keith Barbara of South Park, PA, defending 2010 UFo champion Chad McClellan of Stoystown PA and team mate Qunitin Wyandt of Hooversville, PA follow in 4th and 5th. Danny Mitchell of Clarksburg, WV, Matt Dobnak of West Mifflin, PA, brothers Jared and Jacob Hawkins of Fairmont, WV and Bob Gordon of Keyser, WV round out the top 10.
Mike Knight of Ripley, NY leads the current ULMS point standings. Knight also has 1 UFo victory at Mercer in 2010. The UFo Race Championship is an event marketing alliance among independent supertracks in the PA-WV-MD region. Participating speedways presents their own championship Super Late Model events under the UFo banner throughout the season using common tech and procedure rules with a year-end, group funded, point bonus for the top finishing drivers on the tour. Eligible tracks are within the 3 hour travel distance of the central point of Washington, PA.
