Finishing setting up car..02 Boss..Mastersbilt copy..setup sheets call for 3/8" of toe out in RF..measured car, and that's where it was already set at..

My question is, many chassis setup books I have read call for a maximum of 1/4" toe out...3/8" seems like a lot. As we are new to this car, we will be going with it to stay true to the recommended baseline setup, but I am curious why so much?

1/8 to 1/4 is a thing of the past. I set at 3/8 baseline, when it gets really really slick i will dial in a little more even.

We are usually right at 1/2" and the driver likes the feel. At a 1/4" it feels darty to him..

1/2 to 3/4. 1/4 or less I doubt you could hold the car on the straights with out darting from side to side. 1/2 and over car steers so much better. On a drag strip I'm sure you would notice the speed scrub... I have never seen it on a clay track. jmo

It's a whole other topic, but it's still related. Be sure to check your bump steer too.

Usually they aren't way far off, but a bit of extra time in the shop can make a noticeable difference on the track.

I usually run 3/8" or so, never tried more than that (intentionally anyway), it's on the list of things to try though.
