Mother Nature Halts Race Action at Bluegrass Speedway

Bardstown, KY-July 30, 2011- Bluegrass Speedway would return to action after a three-week hiatus with the 11th Annual Bluegrass Rumble for the American Modified Series, but Mother Nature would have other ideas and rain began to fall around 8:35 p.m. and just as the track was coming back into shape, rain showers returned and made the racing surface unsafe again and by 9:20 p.m., track officials were left with no other option but to cancel the remainder of the racing program for the evening, plus it would have been made it almost impossible to complete the remainder of the program by the local 11:00 p.m. curfew if the rains had not returned. It is the seventh rainout at Bluegrass Speedway this season.

Race teams and race fans with pit passes and tickets can use their pit passes and general admission tickets at any remaining event at Bluegrass Speedway for the remainder of the 2011 race season, with patrons only having to pay the difference in price if there is a difference in price at whichever event they choose to use their ticket or pit pass. The only date patrons cannot use their rainchecks will be the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event on August 27.

A portion of the racing program had been completed, with 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model time trials complete and American Modified Series time trials also complete. 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model preliminary events were also in the books and with the first two heats completed for the American Modified Series, the rains slowly started falling, ultimately leading to the cancellation of the program for the evening. The 11th Annual Bluegrass Rumble for the American Modified Series will know contested on Saturday September 17.

The next scheduled event at Bluegrass Speedway will take place on Saturday August 6 as the STARS Midwest Dirt Racing League Super Late Models will visit Bluegrass Speedway for the first-time ever for the 13th Annual Bluegrass 50, paying $5,000 to win the 50 lap Super Late Model main event, along with a full racing program for the Country 100.9 MIKE FM UMP Modifieds and Clayton Homes of Stanford UMP Sportsman, while the UMP Street Stocks will have the night off.

Bluegrass Speedway is located at 2221 New Haven Road at the intersection of Kentucky Highway 31-E and exit 21 of the Martha Layne Collins (Bluegrass) Parkway. David and Anita Ferrell are the track promoters and present dirt track sports entertainment on Saturday evenings from mid-April through September.
