Brandon Smith Claims CCSDS Win at 67 Speedway

Texarkana, Arkansas (07/30/11) – The second half of the 2011 season has been nothing short of excellent for 2010 Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year, Brandon Smith, and on Saturday night he continued his great year by winning the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) event at 67 Speedway (Texarkana, Arkansas).

After a strong performance in heat race action, Brandon Smith was the JFR Graphics Pole Qualifier for the 35 lap, $2,000-to-win main event with current, Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year, Curtis Cook, joining him on the front row.

With the green flag displayed Brandon Smith jumped to the lead as Cook, BJ Robinson, Allen Murray, and Shane Harris rounded out the top five. Smith would maintain the lead over Murray, who worked his way up to the second spot, as various other drivers made moves through the pack with sixth starting, Jon Mitchell, moving into the third spot. Despite the advances of the various competitors, Smith would maintain the lead for the duration of the event as he would go on to claim the win over Allen Murray, Jon Mitchell, Trey Beene, and Kyle Beard, who started in the fifteenth position. The win was Smith's second of 2011 on the tour as well as the second of his career.

The Rocket Chassis First Heat was won by Brandon Smith with Curtis Cook winning the RacingJunk.com Second Heat Race, and Allen Murray claiming the Woodco, Inc. Third Heat Race.

Kyle Beard won the Boston's Sports Bar & Restaurant B-main.

Point’s leader, Kyle Beard, was the recipient of the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award after advancing from his 15th starting spot to finish in the fifth position.

Brandon Smith was the recipient of the GRT Race Cars Bonus.

The Quarter Master Hard Luck Award went to Ian Samuals.
