rear end drag

ive been having an issue lately with the rear in my car. After a hotlap session or race, either a heat or feature, when i bring the car in there is tons of drag in the rear end. It seems that the brakes are dragging. Has anyone else had this issue? this week i took the calipers apart, cleaned up the pistons and resealed the calipers hoping that will work. any other suggestions????

we put some new calipers on a few weeks ago and they were supposed to be identical to the ones we took off, but when we went to put them one they required some shimming between the caliper and the bolt. we ended up using the thinnest washers we had. sorry dont know the dimensions. they bolted up and seemed to spin free until we bled the breaks then they wanted to drag. we pulled em back off. put a washer in and they were good to go.

not that this is your problem....but might be a place to look.

If you are filling your master cylinders to the top -----it is possible that the expansion of the fluid from heat during a race will cause a certain amount of residual pressure creating a brake drag.

we always maintain our brake fluid level at 3/4 to eliminate this posability.


also might try changing brake hoses
they can break inside ---and not allow pressure to release

just some things to look at

Thanks for the responses guys, im leaning towards the brake fluid being too full, ill have to check on that. Other than that im not sure what would cause it. We got rained out this weekend so ill have to try it again in two weeks, ill let ya know how it goes....

also check to make sure the piston is retracting all the way inside the master cylinder. they can stick because of crud or a weak spring. you can see what's happening if you carefully peak down into the reservoir while you have someone slowly press and depress the brake pedal. you should see the o-ring on the piston pass by the outlet hole and then return back past the hole.
