CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 19 of the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season has nine races on the schedule with five events in the West Region and four events in the Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region. The point battles in both Regions continue to take shape as the majority of the drivers in Top 10 of the point chases net points on their best 14-week totals.

Drivers yet to reach the 14-week mark of the season are still earning full points in an effort to move up in the Regional point standings. There are several drivers outside the Top 10 that will try to use full point scores this week to move up into the points fund paying top ten spots.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Week 19 competition will begin on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR. Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region events are scheduled for Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS, Drew County Speedway in Monticello, AR, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region Week 19 action opens on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL. Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet WRS OMG East Region action is set for Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL, New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with a best 14-week total of 792 points, eight points away from a perfect score of 800 points. The 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion will be trying to net on his lowest weekly point count of 48 among his best 14 week point total.

That means McDuffie would have to finish second or better this week to earn any points on his best 14-week Regional point total. Once that has been netted by McDuffie, he will then have to score 50-point wins to earn any additional Regional points.

Landon Frith of Terry, MS is second in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 748 points, and Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL is third with 746 points. Both Frith and McRee will be looking to net on their lowest weekly point total of 41. McRee can also earn another 25 Regional Bonus points this season before he reaches the maximum of 100.

Duke Palasini of Leland, MS is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 724 points, and he is in a position to make the biggest move this week in the West Region point standings. Palasini can still earn full points for one more week. If Palasini can start a feature event this weekend, it will vault him up to the second spot in the standings.

Larry Murphy of Meridian, MS is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region points chase with 706 points, and Randy Boyd of Marion, MS is sixth with 705 points. Both Murphy and Boyd will be looking to net points better than 41. Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS is seventh with 680 points and will be looking to net on a 25.

Chandler Petty of Austin, AR and Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS are tied for the eighth spot with 679 points apiece. Petty will be trying to net on a 39, and Jordan will be trying to net on a 43. Lamar Furr of Hollandale, MS rounds out the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 668 points, and is another driver looking to move up the points list.

Furr can earn 25 Regional Bonus Points this Saturday night by competing at Greenville Speedway for the fourth straight week. Furr will also be trying to net on a 41. Kenny Carpenter of Cleveland, MS is 11th in the West Region standings with 654 points, and he has one more week to earn full points and move up into the Top 10 of the standings.

The top eight drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region standings have reached the 14-week mark of earning full points, and are now trying to net points. Drivers from ninth on back in the OMG East Region points chase are still earning full points.

Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL is the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS OMG East Region point leader with 778 points and will be trying to net points off a 46. Jimmy Elkins Jr. of Talladega, AL will be looking to close in on Gauldin from the second spot with 772 points, as he tries to net on a 41. Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL is third with 726 points, and will be trying to net on a 37.

Doug Ludwig of Grantville, GA is fourth in the OMG East Region standings with 721 points and will be looking to net on a 37 in Week 19 competition. Mike Combs of Odenville, AL holds down the fifth spot with 715 points, and will be trying to net on a 41.

Ponder can earn 25 Regional Bonus points with his fourth consecutive night of racing this Saturday night at Talladega Short Track. Ponder will also be trying to net on a 42.

Chris Griffin of Flomaton, AL is seventh in the OMG East Region standings with 684 points and will be trying to net on a 34. Maddox Mullinax of Birmingham, AL is eighth with 657 points and will be looking to net on a 41.

Ken Pate of Pell City, AL and Bret Holmes of Eastaboga, AL are tied for the tenth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region standings with 588 points apiece.
