been thinking why is there so much cheating on tires as far as soften the tires when most tracks have an open tire rule any ways and you can run what ever compound tire you want??? i can see some of the tracks that mandate hard tires but when there isnt a compund rule why mess with it or any im missing something?

You are kind of missing something, but its a common misconception. The tire juice these days makes soft tires last longer. So guys can run the gumball tire and make it last 50 or 100 laps. Where the guy that isn't cheating has to run the harder compound.

Exactly, some treatments keep a softer tire from sealing, some make them last longer, some keep them from picking up dirt and stuff from the track and some help a tire on a sand or abrasive track.
