CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 19 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series action saw Duke Palasini of Leland, MS move up to the second spot in the West Region point standings and Jimmy Elkins Jr. of Talladega, AL took over the point lead in the Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region.

Palasini picked up his eighth win of the season on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway driving the Palasini Farms Special and now has 774 points, 18 points behind point leader Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS. McDuffie did not compete over the weekend, as his home track, Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS was rained out on Saturday night.

If McDuffie, the 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion, fails to net any points in the next two weeks and Palasini nets on two 41 point weekly races with two 50-point wins, McDuffie and Palasini would be tied for the West Region point lead at 792 points. Both drivers currently have eight wins on the season.

Landon Frith of Terry, MS and Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL were also idle in Week 19 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region competition, and are now third and fourth respectively in the West Region point standings. Frith has 748 points and McRee has 746 points. Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is fifth with 726 points.

Chandler Petty of Austin, AR took his seventh win of the season on Saturday night at Drew County Speedway in Monticello, AR driving the Whistle Stop Barbeque Rocket. The 15-year-old driver moved up to the sixth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 715 points and has five weekly point totals of 40 or less to net on in the coming weeks.

Lamar Furr of Hollandale, MS is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 709 points, and Larry Murphy of Meridian, MS is eighth with 706 points. Randy Boyd of Marion, MS and Kenny Carpenter of Cleveland, MS are tied for the ninth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 705 points apiece.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Week 19 action, Roger Witt of Batesville, AR took his eighth win of the season on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR driving The Chrome Shop GRT. Mark Stokes of Steens, MS grabbed his first win of the season on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the Sheppard Suspension Systems Trak-Star.

Elkins finished second on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL in the ADP Special to take a one-point lead in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region point standings over Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL. Elkins netted eight points, while Gauldin netted just one point with a fourth-place finish at TST on Saturday night.

Going into the 20th Week of the season, Elkins has 780 points and Gauldin has 779 points. Doug Ludwig of Grantville, GA is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region standings with 721 points, and Mike Combs of Odenville, AL is fourth with 720 points.

Brian Ponder of Talladega, AL used 25 Regional Points with his fourth straight night of perfect attendance at Talladega Short Track on Saturday night to move up to the fifth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS OMG standings with 707 points. Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL is sixth with 689 points, and Maddox Mullinax of Birmingham, AL is seventh with 657 points.

Chris Griffin of Flomaton, AL is eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS OMG East Region standings with 650 points, Russ Ogletree of Phenix City, AL is ninth with 639 points, and Ken Pate of Pell City, AL rounds out the Top 10 with 633 points. Ogletree still has two more weeks to earn full points before he reached the 14-week mark of his season.

Ryan King of Anniston, AL took his second straight win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track driving the David King Automotive Special. King moved up to the 11th spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region standings with 632 points, just one point outside the points fund paying Top 10.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region Week 19 action, the 2009 NeSmith Chevrolet WRS OMG East Region Champion Scott Knowles of Lanett, AL took his first win of the season on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL driving the PW Performance Special.

The 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge point leader GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR picked up one win in Week 19 competition from Witt to bring the three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion’s season point total to 49.

The defending and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL scored one Week 18 win from Stokes to stay within five points of the point leader. Trak-Star Race Cars now has 44 points in the second spot.

Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV remains in the third spot of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge standings with 14 points after a win from Petty. Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is fourth in the standings with one win.

Also participating in the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge and still looking for their first win of the season are TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN and Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN.
