Bluegrass Speedway Suffers Eighth Rainout of 2011 on August 13
Bardstown, KY-August 13, 2011- It was First Place Track Points Night at Bluegrass Speedway on Saturday evening, but for the eighth time this race season, Mother Nature would intervene as rain showers began falling just as the drivers meeting was concluding. The rain showers persisted, along with lots of thunder and lightning that knocked out electricity for around 30 minutes.
Rain showers would slow a bit, but heavy rains returned at 6:50 p.m., forcing track promoters David and Anita Ferrell to have to cancel the evening’s racing program. All guests with general admission tickets and pit passes can use those rainchecks at either the September 17 or September 24 race events.
A total of 14 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, 11 Country 100.9 MIKE FM UMP Modifieds, 5 Clayton Homes of Stanford UMP Sportsman, and 10 UMP Street Stocks were signed in for the event. All of those racers will still receive first place track points for the evening.
Bluegrass Speedway will be closed on August 20 in preparation for the 11th Annual Cornett Racing Engines Bluegrass Classic coming up on August 27. The event will feature the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and pay $10,000 to win for Super Late Models. The Clayton Homes of Stanford UMP Sportsman and UMP Street Stocks will provide support division action for this event, while the Country 100.9 MIKE FM UMP Modifieds will be off.
Bluegrass Speedway is located at 2221 New Haven Road at the intersection of Kentucky Highway 31-E and exit 21 of the Martha Layne Collins (Bluegrass) Parkway. David and Anita Ferrell are the track promoters and present dirt track sports entertainment on Saturday evenings from mid-April through September.
