The $10,000-to-win, World of Outlaws Late Model Series Work Force 50 at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex just two weeks away!

August 21, 2011 (Markleysburg, PA) The summer of 2011 is quickly slipping away! Kids are getting ready to head back to school, football season is almost upon us and the World of Outlaws Late Model Series debut at Roaring Knob is just two weeks away! The Labor Day weekend “Work Force 50” is scheduled for Sunday, September 4 and the best Late Model drivers in the country are set to make the Markleysburg 3/8 mile oval roar like never before!

“The Prodigy” Brady Smith scored a big win at Merritt Raceway in Lake City, MI on Saturday Night in the World of Outlaws most recent race. Smith dominated the night’s action setting fast time, winning his heat and leading all 50-laps en route to a $10,500 payday. Like the upcoming Work Force 50 at Roaring Knob, Saturday Night’s race at Merritt was the first ever visit by the WoO LMS at the facility.

Two-time Defending Series Champion Josh Richards, (winner of the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek feature at the Knob on June 6), finished fifth at Merritt and reeled in points leader Rick Eckert in the season standings with just nine events left on the schedule.

A handful of those events are in Eckert’s proverbial backyard, including the Work Force 50 at Roaring Knob. Eckert, of York, PA, hadn’t even planned on being a tour regular in 2011, but got off to a hot start and has stayed in or near the points lead all summer. He finished fifth in the aforementioned App. Mt. Speedweek feature that Richards captured earlier in the season.

Another PA driver that is no stranger to Roaring Knob is Jason Covert. The York Haven, PA driver has been a dominant force in Central PA Late Model racing the past few seasons and won the $4,000 Three State Flyers race at Roaring Knob last weekend.

Tickets for the Work Force 50 featuring the World of Outlaws Late Model Series are $30 for general admission and kids 10 & under are admitted free of charge with a paying adult. Gates open at 5:00 with Time Trials scheduled for 7:00, followed by racing at 7:30. For more details log on to www.WorldofOutlaws.com/LateModel or www.RoaringKnob.com.
