Tyrel Todd Goes to Victory Lane in a Thriller at Richmond Raceway August 20!

RICHMOND, KY (August 20, 2011)-Richmond Raceway track promoters Joey and Tiffany Tackett presented Fan Appreciation Night this past Saturday and Tyrel Todd of Science Hill, KY went to Victory Lane in a thrilling Coyote 100.7 FM Super Late Model feature event.

Other feature event winners included Russ Gabbert of Berea, KY in the Open Wheel Modifieds, Glen Hounshell, Jr. of Berea, KY in the Sportsman, Wayne Duvall of Lexington, KY in the Road Hogs, and Nathaniel Harrison of Somerset, KY in the Four Cylinders.

Jeff Watson and Bobby Carrier, Jr. brought the field to the green flag in the Coyote 100.7 FM Super Late Model feature. The top three waged a three-way battle for the lead into turn’s one and two and down the backstretch before local Jason Barrett came out on top followed closely by a hard charging Bobby Carrier, Jr. The first caution waved on lap two for James Smith and Peydon Pelphrey. Back underway Barrett continued to lead Carrier before the caution came out again on lap four when Kevin Colston spun. On the restart Carrier pressured Barrett for the lead and would take the top spot on lap seven putting Barrett back to second followed by Tyrel Todd, Russ Gabbert, and fourteenth starting Aaron Hatton. Two laps later, Todd took second from Barrett and began closing on Carrier for the lead. As the field saw the halfway point Todd had caught up with Carrier and eventually took the lead on lap 15 with Hatton taking second just two circuits later. Disaster struck for the hard charging Aaron Hatton on lap 21 when he made contact with a lap car forcing him to retire his mount for the evening with front suspension damage. Tyrel Todd went on to take the win followed by Carrier in second, Russ Gabbert third, Jason Barrett fourth, and Dean Boyd rounding out the top five. Heat race wins went to Jeff Watson and Bobby Carrier, Jr.

Russ Gabbert won his third Open Wheel Modified feature on Saturday night after taking the lead from Chris Johnson on lap three. Jacoby Hines of Ninereh, IN finished second followed by Delane Browning, Chris Johnson, and David Adams. In preliminary race action, Chris Johnson, Russ Gabbert, and Josh Lucas won heat races.

The Sportsman feature was cut short due to the high number of caution flags. Glen Hounshell, Jr. made a last lap pass on Logan Preston for the win after the pair made contact in turn two. Preston settled for second with John Cole taking third, Ricky Brandenburg in fourth and Darrell Cain completing the top five. Logan Preston and Ricky Brandenburg won heat races.

Wayne Duvall won his third consecutive Road Hog feature over championship point’s leader Glen Hounshell, Sr., Paul Osborne, Allen Hackworth, Jr., and Trae Soper. Wayne Duvall and John Mandigo won heat races.

Nathaniel Harrison of Somerset, KY dominated another Four Cylinder feature over Duane Smith, John Puckett, Brian Thornsburg, and Jerry Jolly. Nathaniel Harrison also won the heat.
