UFo Races into $170,000 Fall Season with 5 Amazing Events!
(Mars, PA) The UFo Race Championship will finish the 2011 season with 5 spectacular events. Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex, Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway, The Rock Speedway and Hesston Speedway will offer over $170,000 to the UFo Super Late Models during the months of September and October.
UFo and 3 State Flyers will clash at Roaring Knob on Saturday, September 10 for the annual “King of the Knob.” The Area 51-lap UFo/3SF Super Late Model championship will pay $5,000 to win and $400 to start. Roaring Knob has been the site of amazing racing action over the past seasons with excellent track preparation. The UFo/3SF “King of the Knob” traditionally produces a great car count and will be the 3 State Flyers 2011 season finale. Pro-Lates, Street Stocks, Chargers and Roadrunners will also be on the racing program.
Previous winners of the “King of the Knob” include Previous winners of the “King of the Knob” include Jamie Lathroum, DJ Myers, Jeremy Miller, Jason Covert, Neil Brown, Gary Dalton, Bobby Hill, Mike Benedum, Dave Groves, Lynn Geisler and Tom Myers. Devin Friese of Chambersburg, PA won the UFo “Supernational Road” event at Roaring Knob in July and Covert of Lock Haven, PA won the track’s 3 State Flyers August event from the 14th starting position.
The following weekend, September 15-16-17, UFo and ULMS will meet at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway for the mighty “Pittsburgher.” A total of $9,000 to win will be paid over 2 days, from a $99,000 payoff for all divisions. The UFo vs ULMS “Pittsburgher” includes the Outlaw 410 Sprints and BRP Big Block Modifieds, making it a total high-power event.
The UFo vs ULMS “Pittsburgher” will kick off with an open practice on Thursday, September 15. On Friday night, September 16 the Super Late Models will compete in the “i-Monster.” This will be a full racing program with a 33-lap feature paying $2,000 to win. This is a non-point event for UFo racers, but will follow UFo format and procedures. The BRP Big Block Modifieds will compete in a full racing program with a 30-lap championship feature with Pro-Lates, UEMS E-mods, Cadets, Hobby and Young Guns racing in qualifying heats also on Friday night. Keith Barbara of South Park, PA won the “i-Monster” in 2010.
On Saturday, September 16 at PPMS, UFo and ULMS Super Late Models will race in a full racing program with a 66-lap feature paying $7,000 to the winner. The 410 Outlaw Sprints will race in heats and a 20-lap feature paying $2,000 to the winner. The Pro-Lates, UEMS E-mods, Cadets, Hobby, and Young Guns will compete in championship feature races. Davey Johnson of Latrobe, PA was the 2010 “Pittsburgher” champion.
After a weekend break, UFo will return to scenic western Maryland at The Rock Speedway at Cumberland MD for the “Big Kahuna” on September 29-30 and October 1. This event will also feature a 2-program schedule of events with a total of $7,000 being offered to the UFo Super Late Model feature winners. An open practice will start the weekend on Thursday September, 29.
On Friday night, September 30 at The Rock, Super Late Models will race in a full, non-point racing program with a 31 lap feature paying $2,000 to the winner. The Hobby Stocks and front wheel drive Factory-4 cylinders will also race in heats and features that night. Jared Miley of South Park, PA was the 2010 winner.
The “Big Kahuna” on Saturday, October 1 will see the UFo Super Late Models race in a full racing program with a $5,000 to win, 44-lap feature event. This will be a double late model division program with the Limited Lates also racing in heats and feature. The Street Stocks will run their complete program on Saturday. Boom Briggs of Bear Lake, PA won the 2010 UFo “Big Kahuna.”
The UFo Super Late Models will invade Roaring Knob once again in “ROAR-2 and Spectacular FallFest” on October 6-7-8 for 2 days of high-speed action. All cars will be able to practice on Thursday, October 6 in an open track test.
On Friday night, October 7, the “Night Flight 2 Mars” will feature the Super Late Models in a complete non-point event paying $2,000 to win for the 36-lap feature race. FASTRAK NE Tour Pro-Lates will compete in their qualifying heat races, while the Street Stocks and Roadrunners will run their full program. Jeremy Miller of Littlestown, PA won the “Night Flight” in 2010.
“ROAR-2” on Saturday Night, October 8 will shake the earth with the UFo Super Late Models racing for $5,000 in a full program with a 55-lap feature. The FASTRAK NE Tour Pro-Lates will run consolations and “Spectacular FallFest” championship feature paying $2,000 to win. E-mods will compete in their “Spectacular FallFest” championship full racing program and Chargers will also race with heats and features. Jason Covert won a thrilling, mutli-lead change race from the 10th position at this event in 2010.
“The Ultimate” is the traditional UFo season finale and will take place this year at the Hesston Speedway on October 21-22. This will be a 2-day event in the true spirit of the Challenger Raceway, where the race was launched. Like Challenger, this will be a major Super Late Model event with all-regional championships for 4 other classes. The UFo Super Late Models will compete for a total of $10,000 to win, with the goal of building the event to where it was in 2008 in future years with if drivers and fans support the race.
The same divisions from the final event at Challenger will be in competition with the same type of multi-weight set of rules that will allow virtually every driver in the region to be legal and competitive. A few modifications will be made to the schedule of events from the final event at Challenger due to differences in the pit area at Hesston. A split Super Late Model program with 2 sepearate programs will be run and the format that made the event famous will stay in tact.
“Mega-Blitz Mach1” will start off with a $2,000 to win, Super Late Model complete, non-point program with a 30-lap feature event. The Semi-Lates (limited/steel block/crate late models) and Cadets (street/pro-stocks) will race in qualifying heat races. A full racing program fro the Roadrunner (front wheel driver 4-cylinders) with a championship feature will take place on Friday.
“The Ultimate” in 2011 is scheduled to be a 61-lap championship finale to the UFo season paying $8,000 to the winner. The Semi-Lates will race for $2,000 in a 44-lap championship while the Cadets will race for $1,200 in a 33-lap championship. The Sport Hobby class (pure stock/charger) will run in a full championship program on Saturday. In case of a rain out on Friday, and alternative 1-day program will be run for the Semi-Lates paying $1,400 to win and the Cadets paying $800 to win.
The lap count on the Super Late Models is significant in 2 ways. The 61 lap feature is representative of 1961, the year Hesston opened and the 91 total feature laps is a reference to the year Challenger opened, 1991.
