STARS Volunteer Racing Series set for Season Finale Weekend September 16 and 17

SOMERSET, KY (September 1, 2011)—The STARS Volunteer Racing Series have just three events remaining in the 2011 Championship Points Chase.

The points battle is heating up between ‘Tennessee Hot Shoe’ Ross White and ‘The California Kid’ Eric Jacobsen heading into the remaining three events which start this Saturday September 3rd at the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Kentucky. White holds a tight grip with a 20 point margin over Jacobsen. Each driver has one win a piece on the tour.

The STARS VRS will take the following weekend off for the World 100 at the famed Eldora Speedway in Ohio before the series’ duo of events on September 16 at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA and a first-ever visit to historic Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, TN on Saturday September 17th.

On Saturday Night September 3rd the STARS VRS Late Models will do battle with the STARS Midwest Dirt Racing League (MDRL) Late Models at the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Kentucky paying $3,000 to win / $300 to start.

The second to final event will take place at the Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA on Friday Night September 16th paying $3,000 to win / $300 to start the 40-lap main event. This will be the second and final visit by the STARS VRS Late Models to the Gar (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)son promoted facility located on the Tennessee / Georgia border. Josh Putnam won the May 6th STARS VRS visit to Boyd’s Speedway and Mother Nature won the scheduled June visit.

The final event of the season in the points battle will be on Saturday Night September 17th as the series will make their first-ever visit to the Monty Morrow promoted Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, TN for the Eighth Annual Jimmy Mowery Memorial, a Triple 20 Feature format paying $1,000 to win / $100 to start each Feature and the total payout being more than the normal $3,000 to win STARS VRS purse! More information will be released on the finale event at Cleveland Speedway in the coming days but some bonuses have been announced as if a driver wins two out of the three features they will get a $300 bonus and if someone wins all three features they will receive a $500 bonus.

‘We are incredibly excited to visit the Cleveland Speedway in September 17th for what is sure to be an exciting finale weekend at two very racy race tracks,’ stated Series President Chris Tilley. ‘What better way to end the points chase at a historic East Tennessee track, I personally have worked with Mr. Morrow and his crew during the last few years working with Ray Cook’s Southern Nationals Series and they do a tremendous job and the race track is always racy during each visit’ stated Tilley again.
