$5,000-to-win Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series — ‘Tennessee vs. Carolina Brawl’ scheduled Saturday, Sept. 10 at Volunteer Speedway

BULLS GAP, Tenn. — The Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series will make its second visit of the 2011 racing season at Volunteer Speedway for the $5,000-to-win "Tennessee vs. Carolina Brawl - Saturday Night Fight @ The Gap" on Saturday, Sept. 10.

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competitor Austin Dillon celebrated in victory lane by proudly displaying the championship belt high over his head while standing on the roof of his car back in June when the series made it first-ever appearance at Volunteer Speedway. Who will wear the title belt on Saturday, Sept. 10?

Leading the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series competitors into the Volunteer State to battle on the high banks at "The Gap" will be current points leader Luke Roffers of Concord, N.C., along with Dennis Franklin of Gaffney, S.C.; Kennie Compton Jr. of Bland, Va.; Jeff Smith of Dallas, N.C.; Dustin Mitchell of Pine Level, N.C.; Scott Autry, David Taylor, Travis Yow and Craig Shuffield (all four from Fayetteville, N.C.), Chad Paxton of Troutman, N.C.; Mike Gault of Gaffney, S.C.; Tim Allen of Kannapolis, N.C.; Jay Sessoms of Stanley, N.C., plus possibly Ross Bailes of Clover, S.C.; Ricky Weeks of Rutherfordton, N.C.; Johnny Pursley of Clover, S.C.; Doug Sanders of Springwood, N.C.; G.R. Smith of Cornelius, N.C., and Robbie Bailey of Mooresville, N.C.

The Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series $5,000-to-win, 60-lap Tennessee vs. Carolina Brawl main event highlights the Saturday, Sept. 10 racing program. Also in action will be the Fastrak Racing Series-sanctioned Pro (Crate) Late Model and "Gunslingers of Kingsport" Hobby Stock divisions.

Adult grandstand admission on Saturday, Sept. 10 is $20, youth (ages 13-15) $10, with 12-and-under admitted free in the grandstands. Pit passes and backside tier-parking $30, regardless of age.

The pit gate will open at 4 p.m., with the grandstands opening at 5 p.m. Hotlaps will get started around 7:30 p.m. (once the sun begins to set over the track), to be followed by qualifying and then racing action getting the green flag around 9 p.m., following prayer and the national anthem.

Directions to Volunteer Speedway: South on Interstate 81 from Tennessee/Virginia state lines, take Exit 23 (Bulls Gap/Greeneville), then turn right onto Hwy. 11-E at bottom of the exit ramp. Look for track entrance approximately 200 yards on left.

North on Interstate 81 from I-81/I-40 split (East of Knoxville, TN), take Exit 23, then turn left onto Hwy. 11-E at bottom of the exit ramp. Continue underneath the interstate over-pass and track entrance approximately 300 yards ahead on left.

*** NOTE: All Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series competitors, it is required that all cars must be equipped with a driver's side full window net or sprint car head net in order be able to compete at Volunteer Speedway. Also, racing gloves must be worn at all times when cars/competitors' are on the track.

The event will be a co-sanctioned Carolina Clash / Clash South Super Late Model Series race, which means that both Hoosier and American Racer Tires will be eligible to run. The following tire compounds apply for the Tennessee vs. Carolina Brawl at Volunteer Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 10.

Tires: (Tire Rules)

(A) American Racer - Spec. SD 12, SD 48, and MD 56.
(B) Hoosier - Spec. 1300, 1350, and 1600.
(C) Chemical alterations of any tires is strictly prohibited. No tire softeners or conditioners which alter the chemical compound of the tire will be permitted. This includes, but is not limited to, tire soaking, internal applications or the use of tread softeners. All tires must meet the benchmark set by the tire manufacturer. This will be strictly enforced.
(D) Grooving, Siping, and Needling permitted.
(E) Markings on sidewalls may not be modified in any way.
(F) All Tires will be inspected by Carolina Clash Officials

Carolina Clash Officials will be taking random tire samples throughout the night to be sent off to an independent laboratory for testing.

*** NOTE: Due to three events at Volunteer Speedway being canceled during the season due to weather (rain), on Saturday, Sept. 10 the Fastrak Racing Series-sanctioned Pro (Crate) Late Models will run two, 20-lap features. This will help drivers be able to get two races in to earn Fastrak starts (credited towards the required 12 starts), that will enable the Fastrak Racing Series registered competitors be eligible for the Grand Nationals that will be held in October.

Night 1 of the 2011 Fastrak Racing Series $250,000 Grand Nationals will be held at Cleveland County Speedway & MotoCross Complex in Lawndale, N.C., on Oct. 7-8. Nights 2 and 3 will be at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn., on October 21-23, where the overall Grand Nationals champion will be crowned.
