CARTERSVILLE, GA – Drivers looking for Regional points in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series still have four weeks to collect them before the 2011 season ends on October 1. There are races scheduled in the West Region during each of the four remaining weeks, and there are races scheduled over the next three weeks in the Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region.
There is a lot to be decided point-wise for the Top 10 spots in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region and Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region in the next four weeks. Drivers have several venues to choose from to decide their fate in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS point standings.
With four weeks remaining in the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season, two drivers are battling for the West Region Championship and four drivers are still in the running for the Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region title. The championship in each Region is worth $5,000.
There are 20 drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region and 22 drivers in the Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region that are battling for the Top 10 points fund-paying spots. The point scenarios for the current Top 10 drivers in each Region will be outlined in Thursday’s NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 24 Preview.
NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series events award 50 points for a win with eight or more cars, and the points drop back one point to the tenth-place. Drivers finishing tenth on back in the main event receive 41 points.
For car counts of seven or less at NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series events, 40 points are awarded for a win, with a one point drop per finishing position. Drivers that fail to make the main event, but attempt to compete in at least a hot lap session during the evening earn 25 points for their efforts regardless of car count.
