American Modified Series Bluegrass Rumble at Bluegrass Speedway September 17

Bardstown, KY-September 7, 2011- Bluegrass Speedway track promoters David and Anita Ferrell will present racing action on Saturday September 17 as the American Modified Series will return for what is currently set to be their series finale, the 11th Annual Bluegrass Rumble, paying $1,500 to win for UMP Modifieds.

The racing program on Saturday September 17 will feature the American Modified Series in a full program of practice, one lap of A-B group time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 30 lap, $1,500 to win Bluegrass Rumble A-Main. The UMP Street Stocks will also have a special event, with their feature race going 20 laps in distance and paying $300 to the winner. The 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models will also be in competition at the September 17 racing event, racing for $1,000 to win, and the Clayton Homes of Stanford UMP Sportsman will be racing for $200 to win. For the September 17 event, the Super Late Models, UMP Modifieds, and UMP Street Stocks will time trial, while the UMP Sportsman will draw for heat race starting positions.

Of note, patrons that have a raincheck from the July 30 rainout or August 13 rainout events can use them at either this September 17 event or at the 2011 season finale on September 24.

Activities at Bluegrass Speedway for the September 17 event will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., while the general admission area will open at 5:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 6:00 p.m., with practice set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Time trials will get underway at 7:00 p.m., with racing set for the green flag at or before 8:00 p.m. Ticket prices for the September 17 event in the general admission area will be $15 for adults, $8 for children ages 6 to 12, and children ages 5 and under free. A pit pass will be $30.

The Bluegrass Rumble was first added to the Bluegrass Speedway racing schedule in 2001 and Joe Mattingly of New Hope, KY would take the win in the event. Benji Lee of Loretto, KY would take back-to-back wins in the race in 2002 and 2003, while Mattingly would repeat his inaugural event triumph with a win in the 2004 event. Josh Lucas of Bardstown, KY would add his name to the list of winners of the race in 2005, while Hanover, IN native Joey Kramer would score the race win in 2006. Miguel Coffey of Tyner, KY would win the 2007 version of the Rumble, while Jason Wheatley of Loretto, KY would take the race victory in 2008. Bryan Barber of Greensburg, KY would win the Rumble for the first time in 2009, while Michael England of Glasgow, KY would win his first Rumble race in 2010 and is the defending race champion.

Bluegrass Speedway last raced on August 27 and feature event winners included Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN in 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, Avral Thompson of Loretto, KY in Clayton Homes of Stanford UMP Sportsman, and Mike Bailey of Clarksville, IN in UMP Street Stocks. The Country 100.9 MIKE FM UMP Modifieds were not in action at that event.

With the season quickly winding down, only two track points races remain at Bluegrass Speedway. Current track championship point leaders are Tim Rivers of Salem, IN in 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, Benji Lee of Loretto, KY in Country 100.9 MIKE FM UMP Modifieds, Robbie Settles of New Hope, KY in Clayton Homes of Stanford UMP Sportsman, and Scott Beeler of Louisville, KY in UMP Street Stocks.

Bluegrass Speedway is located at 2221 New Haven Road at the intersection of Kentucky Highway 31-E and exit 21 of the Martha Layne Collins (Bluegrass) Parkway. David and Anita Ferrell are the track promoters and present dirt track sports entertainment on Saturday evenings from mid-April through September. The A-Main purse for the September 17 Bluegrass Speedway 11th Annual Bluegrass Rumble event is as follows: 1st- $1,500, 2nd- $750, 3rd- $600, 4th- $550, 5th- $500, 6th- $450, 7th- $400, 8th- $350, 9th- $325, 10th- $300, 11th- $275, 12th- $250, 13th- $230, 14th- $220, 15th through 22nd- $200 to start.
