STARS VRS ready to end season with final stops at Boyd’s and Cleveland Sept 16 and 17

SOMERSET, KY (September 11, 2011)—The STARS Volunteer Racing Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts will end their Sophomore season with the final two points racing events on Friday and Saturday September 16 and 17.

The STARS VRS will make their fifth-ever appearance at the Gar D1ckson promoted Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA on Friday Night September 16th for a 40-lap $3,000 to win event. Previous series winners at Boyd’s Speedway include Ronnie Johnson in April 2010, Billy Ogle Jr. in May of 2010, Skip Arp in October of 2010 and Josh Putnam in May of 2011. This year’s June event was rained out.

On Saturday Night September 17th the STARS VRS will make their first-ever visit to the Monty Morrow promoted Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, TN for the Eighth Annual Jimmy Mowery Memorial, a Triple Crown Feature racing event. The STARS VRS Late Models will race in three-$1,000 to win / $100 to start 20-lap feature events. A $300 bonus has been put up by the track if a driver wins two of the three features while a $500 bonus has also been put up for any driver who wins all three feature events.

At Boyd’s Speedway on Friday September 16th the Crate Late Models, A & B Hobby and Front Wheel Drive classes will also be in attendance racing for Double Points. The gates open at 4:00 pm EST with Hot Laps slated for 7:00 pm at Boyd's Speedway. There will be a complete show of practice, Group Time Trials, Consolation Races and the 40-lap Main event will be at Boyd’s Speedway.

The Gates will swing open at 4:00 p.m. with 7:30 p.m. Hot Laps slated for Cleveland Speedway, for ticket information please contact the Speedway. Support divisions will also be on the Cleveland Speedway racing card.

The STARS VRS Late Model tire rule for each event is as follows: Open Front, Hoosier LM40/1600 and American Racer MD-56 on the REAR. It is mandatory that these tires punch 60 with the durometer before any qualifying or race.

Take I-75 to the First Cleveland Exit (if you're coming south from Knoxville, it's the Third Cleveland Exit), go east (away from Fireworks Bldg.) about a mile (first exit ramp) to Hwy. 11. Turn left (back under the overpass) on Hwy. 11, and go two blocks (past the car lots & Mr. Zip, the Speedway is on the left.
