Barber Flies to Win in Moler Raceway Park American Modified Series Action

Williamsburg, OH-September 16, 2011- The American Modified Series returned to action on Friday evening for the first half of its 2011 championship doubleheader weekend at Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, OH and Bryan Barber of Greensburg, KY would drive away from the Kevin and Kim Moler promoted ¼ clay oval with a $1,500 payday and his first series victory of the 2011 race season.

Barber would claim the victory aboard his B&B Motorsports/All Star Performance/Dyer’s Top Rods/Bandit Race Cars/Bilstein/Frankland Racing Equipment sponsored #10 Bandit Race Cars, Jay (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)ens Race Engines powered machine.

Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN would finish in the second position in the 30 lap main event, while Michael England of Glasgow, KY would follow-up his win at Moler in July with a third place effort. John Demoss of Bloomington, IN would take fourth place honors, while David McWilliams of Verona, KY would complete the top five. Elliott Despain would head up the remainder of the top ten, followed by Dave Baldwin, Matt Hamilton, Jimmy Lennox, and Ray Branscum. The 30 lap, $1,500 to win race would be slowed by three caution flags and take 21 minutes and 18 seconds to complete.

Joey Kramer would take the lead at the start of the event, with Dave Baldwin, Michael England, Doug Adkins, and Elliott Despain giving chase. Adkins and England would begin to battle and Adkins would draw the first caution of the event when he spun his mount in turn three. Bryan Barber had worked his way to the third spot already after starting in the 10th position and Barber and England would begin to battle for second, with only one more lap completed before a caution for debris was thrown. The restart would see only one more circuit again completed, with Barber taking second from England before the caution waved for a spin by Nick Hodges on the frontchute. The restart would see Barber pressure Kramer for the race lead, with the front pair racing side-by-side for the race lead until for the next six trips until Barber would take the race lead on lap 13. Barber would then begin to mow down slower traffic, opening up as much as a full straightaway lead at times while lapping up to the ninth place car before the drop of the checkered flag.

In preliminary action, Doug Adkins was the Williams Precision Engines Top Qualifier among 33 entries at 15.190 seconds. Dave Baldwin would win Hypercoil Springs heat one, while Elliott Despain won Wiles Driveshafts heat two. Joey Kramer would take VP Racing Fuels heat three and Michael England would score the win in Comp Cams heat four. Jerry Lawson would win Racing Head Service B-Main #1, while Dave Jamison won Comp Cams B-Main #2.

The next event for the American Modified Series will be on Saturday September 17 at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY for the 11th Annual Bluegrass Rumble, paying $1,500 to win.
