UFo Semi-Lates Will Debut at “The Ultimate” and “Challenger Super Championships” at Hesston Oct 21-22!
(Mars, PA) The UFo Race Championship will fly into a new realm at “The Ultimate” at the Hesston Speedway on October 21-22. For the 1st-time ever, Semi-Lates will compete under the UFo banner in addition to the Super Late Models. Limited, pro/crate and steel block competitors will be eligible for this class with weight and spoiler variances evening out the different motor combinations.
The UFo Semi-Lates will race in a 44-lap “Challenger Super Championship” feature event at Hesston paying $2,000 to the winner, $200 to start and $100 for non-qualifiers based on a 2-day show. In case of inclement weather on Friday, October 21, and alternative 1-day program will be run with a 38-lap feature paying $1,400 to win, $150 to start and $75 for non-qualifiers. Like all UFo tour events, competitors will not have to pay a car entry fee to race in UFo Semi-Late competition. A limit of one class for each driver will apply at “The Ultimate” and “Challenger Super Championships.”
Like the UFo Super Late Models, the UFo Semi-Lates will compete under a multi-level set of rules which will gives competitors the choice of what equipment they can utilize, as well as allowing current equipment to be legal. The set of rules is similar to what was used at the Challenger Raceway in its final 2 seasons. These combined rules will allow all limited, pro/crate and steel block racers to be competitive.
Limited 358 late models meeting all motor specifications will weight 2,400 pounds and will use an 8” spoiler with 8” x 18” side spoilers. Any limited 358 motor using CNC lightened blocks or heads or GM Vortec heats must carry a 20 pound weight on or in front of the motor mid-plate for each one of those items.
Pro/crate late models will weigh 2,200 pounds for GM602 motors and 2,350 pounds for GM604 motors. Both crate motors will be able to use a 12” spoiler with 12” x 24” side spoilers as well as a 4” x 32” nose spillboard.
Steel block motors will weigh 2,500 pounds with an 8” spoiler and 8 x 18” side spoilers. Any steel block motor with both displacement over 358 cubic inches and aluminum heads must carry a 50 pound weigh on or in front of the motor mid-plate.
Steel block cars with displacement over 358 cubic inches and steel heads will not be required to run the mid-plate weight. The mid-plate weight will also not be mandatory on cars with aluminum heads and displacement of 358 cubic inches or less.
American Racer or Hoosier tires will be able to be used in UFo Semi-Late competition. Tires will be limited to a 16 ¾” cross section and 93” circumference. Hoosier 15/1300, American Racer 44, or any harder compounds with a minimum durometer reading of 32 will be permitted. Hoosier FT200, FT400 and FT600 are legal on any car.
Select UFo events in 2012 will include UFo Semi-Lates as a companion to the UFo Super Late Models. These double late model division programs will offer race fans a total blitz of late model racing at those events. UFo Semi-Late competitors will benefit from unified rules, payoffs, format and the UFo zero car entry fee policy.

No fuel injection, turbo chargers or blowers. 6” maximum setback measured from center of left front spark plug to center of ball joint OR 25 ½” maximum setback measured from center of ball joint to front of motor plate.

Any stock length steel connecting rod. No magnetos. Cast iron heads. No head angle milling. Combustion chambers can be ground or polished, but must have 60 cc minimum volume. Port matching on the head intake runner is acceptable up to maximum ¾” depth from the intake manifold interface and on the head exhaust runner up to maximum ¾” depth from the head interface. Valve seat area can be cleaned up and blended no deeper than ¾” from the seat. No other hand or machine work on ports permitted. Head runner CC measurements must remain stock with the exception of port matching. Steel or stainless steel valves only—no titanium or hollow stem valves. Any spring, any retainer and any valve lock permitted. Roller rocker arms permitted. Any Limited 2,400 weight car with GM Vortec heads, CNC lightened heads or CNC lightened block must mount a 20 pound weight on or in front of the motor midplate for 1 of those parts and 40 pounds of weight on or in front of the motor midplate for 2 of those parts. 8” spoiler. 8” high x 18” long side braces.

Wet sump only. No external oil pumps. Motor must be purchased from an authorized dealer and MUST remain sealed at all times. GM factory encrypted bolts cannot be altered, removed or changed except by an authorized repair center. Absolutely no modification of any internal engine part. All motor parts included with the motor as shipped from GM must remain OEM and may NOT be modified including but not limited to: valve springs, push rods, harmonic balancers, rocker arms, valve covers etc. No upgrades are allowed that may produce power via performance ehancing methods including breather system modifications. No machine work permitted. Motor service or reassembly after tear down may only be performed at an authorized repair center and motor must be resealed with GM factory encrypted bolts. All motor repairs must be done with the same GM motor parts, listed in GM book part #88958668. By using a crate motor in competition, the race team acknowledges all responsibility for the legality of the motor upon inspection at any event regardless of any previous motor verification. No magnetos. 12” rear spoiler. 12” high x 24” long maximum side braces. 4” x 32” spillboard with 1” ridge on top permitted on nose.
