FASTRAK City Chevrolet National Weekly Championship in Final Stretch

Carnesville, Georgia – As the final events of 2011 are drawing near most drivers that compete in the FASTRAK City Chevrolet National Weekly Championship Series are not surprised to find that yet again Max Blair was the first to reach the 705 point maximum total allowed in the FASTRAK Weekly format. Blair, the defending FASTRAK National Weekly Champion, also leads the FASTRAK Northeast Region point standings. In 2010 Blair nearly pulled off the FASTRAK Triple Crown. First he took home the FASTRAK Northeast Regional title and followed that up with the FASTRAK City Chevrolet National Weekly Championship. Finally Blair led the GRAND NATIONAL standings entering the last event at Wythe Raceway but his slim margin wasn’t enough to hold his pursuers at bay. In the end it was Wisconsin’s A.J. Diemel that took the $30,000 GRAND NATIONAL Championship crown.

In 2011 Blair has yet again placed himself in a position to get the Triple Crown but he will face plenty of stiff competition if he is to make it happen this time around. One of those he will have to face will be fellow Pennsylvanian Mike Pegher, Jr. Pegher has crept closer and closer to Blair throughout the final stages of the season and he could be poised to make a final run at dethroning Blair. Also in the hunt is reigning Southeast / Mid-East Touring Champion David Smith. Smith is also attempting to capture dual FASTRAK titles. He slipped to 2nd in his pursuit of defending his Southeast / Mid-East title and he is still on the outside looking in for the National Weekly Championship but Smith is a wily veteran and is certainly capable to getting the results. Aaron Barley and Frankie Beard round out the top 5 of the City Chevrolet National Weekly Racing Series standings.

With a total payout of $50,000 at stake, the intensity has nearly reached its pinnacle as the season winds down. The City Chevrolet National Weekly Championship also pays an unheard of 50 positions in the final standings. The excitement continues to build as weekly and regional championships begin to conclude all across FASTRAK Nation with all roads leading to the 2011 FASTRAK Grand Nationals.
