CARTERSVILLE, GA - Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL will highlight the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Models for its weekly shows in 2012. Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS Late Model Division at Deep South Speedway will compete for both a track and national point fund in 2012.

Deep South Speedway returns to the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series after being a part of the series in 2007. Track owner Casey Hinds is happy to have the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series back at the 4/10-mile high-banked clay oval for several reasons.

“Signing on with the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series is going to be good for the track, the fans, and the racers,” Hinds said. “The crate late models have put on some of the best races Deep South Speedway has ever had, which is good for the fans, and the drivers are going to benefit from what the series has to offer with point funds, good tech, and publicity.”

Weekly crate late model drivers at Deep South Speedway will compete for National points through a points system against drivers at other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series tracks throughout the country without having to leave their home track.

“There are a lot of drivers within a 100-mile radius of Deep South Speedway that have competed in the past with the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series,” NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Director Roby Helm said. “With Deep South Speedway signing on for 2012, drivers will have a great facility to race at and earn National points.”

The 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet WRS National Point Fund will payback through the Top 10 positions in the standings at the end of the season. NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series drivers will compete in a 27-week season, with their best 14 week finishes counting towards their season total.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical GM Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 150-pound weight break.

These engines are in stock and ready for free next day delivery anywhere in the Southeast from NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, GA. The GM Performance 604 Crate Engine is on sale for $5,095 and the GM Performance 602 Crate Engine is on sale for $3,195 at NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, GA. Hinds said he and his staff has been busy giving Deep South Speedway a major overhaul by making several improvements, both on and off the track.

“We’ve putting new clay on the racing surface which will make for better racing on what is already a competitive track,” Hinds said. “The track sat idle for a couple of years, so we’re also upgrading the concession stands and adding more bleachers.”

Hinds will give competitors plenty of room to race on at Deep South Speedway, as the front straight is banked at eight degrees, while the back straight is banked at 14 degrees. The turns are banked at 22 degrees each. The front straight is approximately 65 feet wide and the back is 80 feet wide. Both turns are over 90 feet wide from the inside rim to the outside wall.

Deep South Speedway is located four miles north of I-10 at Exit 44 on Highway 59. For more information call 251-622-2285, or visit the track web site at www.deepsouthdirt.com. You also check out the Deep South Speedway on Facebook at www.facebook.com/deepsouthdirt.
