Neat, Thompson, England, and Bailey Snag Season Finale Wins at Bluegrass Speedway

Bardstown, KY-September 24, 2011- It would be the 2011 season finale on Saturday at Bluegrass Speedway and feature event winners for the evening would include Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY in 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, Avral Thompson of Loretto, KY in Clayton Homes of Stanford UMP Sportsman, Michael England of Glasgow, KY in Country 100.9 MIKE FM UMP Modifieds, and Mike Bailey of Clarksville, IN in UMP Street Stocks.

After four attempts to start the 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model feature, the race would start single-file and Jeff Watson would start at the point after polesitter Tim Prince would pull pitside. Watson would lead Dustin Neat, Aaron Hatton, Lee Devasier, and Tim Rivers in the early going. Devasier would go to third on lap 7, while Hatton would draw the caution on lap 11 after contacting the turn two wall. The restart would see Watson and Neat again pull away from the field, while Devasier, Rivers, and 9th starting Steve Barnett would run third through fifth. Rivers would get by Devasier in turn two on lap 19, while Neat would pressure Watson for the lead. As the front duo took the white flag, Neat would fire a slidejob pass on Watson to take the lead off of turn two, with Watson returning the favor in turn three, but would make contact with the wall. This would give Neat all the breathing room he needed to take the feature win aboard his Red Buck/ NWN Distributing/Neat’s Service Center/Keltner Heating and Cooling/D&R Livestock/Tri County Wood sponsored #25 Longhorn Chassis, Estes Race Engines machine. Watson would hang on to take second, while Rivers would claim third. Devasier and Bill Blair, Jr. would complete the top five. Rounding out the top ten would be Jeff Rawlings, Jason Hinkle, Kevin Colston, Tommy Carlton, and Steve Barnett. In preliminary action, Hatton would be the top qualifier among 19 entries at 14.822 seconds. Prince would win the dash, while heat race wins went to Hinkle and Blair, Jr. Tim Rivers is 2011 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model track champion.

The Clayton Homes of Stanford UMP Sportsman division would race for $400 to win and Avral Thompson would get by Robbie Settles on lap 11 of the 20 lap event and pull away over the final five circuits to get his third feature win of the season behind the wheel of the Teamsters Local 89/Hawk’s Place/Cozy Corner/Thompson’s Heating and Air/High Grove Grocery/Cox Wrecker Service/St. Joe Garage sponsored #44. The remainder of the top five would be Danny Blackwell, Derek Bottoms, Eli Meredith, and Settles. In preliminary action, Settles would be the top qualifier among 7 entries, while Roger Cecil got the heat race victory. Robbie Settles is the 2011 Clayton Homes of Stanford UMP Sportsman track champion.

The Country 100.9 MIKE FM UMP Modified feature event would see Michael England jump to the race lead at the drop of the green flag and would survive a late race caution that tightened the field back up and a hard-charging Benji Lee to take the victory in the 20 lap feature event in the seat of the Team WompusCat owned Tri-County Oil and Auto/Williams and Tucker Auto Parts/Horton Racing/Waterhead Motorsports/D&D Dairy/ All Star Performance/Kentucky Cycle Salvage/Davis Machine/Simpson Fabrication sponsored #10.5 Lightning Chassis, Pro Power Race Engines mount. Lee would finish second, while Dion Benningfield would score a third place finish. Joe Godsey would make a late race pass on Brad Schlosser to take the fourth spot. The remainder of the top ten would be Billy Meredith, J.T. Ayers, Rocky Wilson, Gary Parks, and Jeff Stith. Eleven entries would see heat race wins go to England and Benningfield. Benji Lee is the 2011 Country 100.9 MIKE FM UMP Modified track champion.

The UMP Street Stock feature would see Mike Bailey hold off the charges of Scott Beeler to capture the 12 lap feature event for the division, with Bailey driving to victory lane in his NIC Transport/TNT Cheerleading sponsored #5 entry. Beeler would take runner-up honors, with Bryan Derringer coming home in third. Jeff Whobrey and Garnett Eldridge would complete the top five. Ten entries would see heat race checkered flags be captured by Bailey and Beeler. Scott Beeler is the 2011 UMP Street Stock track champion.
