Eric Jacobsen named 2011 STARS Volunteer Racing Series Champion after re-count

SOMERSET, KY (September 25, 2011)—STARS Volunteer Racing Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts President Chris Tilley has released the final points after a re-count was made after the tie between eventual Champion Eric Jacobsen of Santa Cruz, California and Ross White of Knoxville, Tennessee.

A final re-count was done this week, Jacobsen and White both received a total of 1,425 points for their nine races and the one race drop. By series rules, if there is a tie in the final championship points then a Champion would be decided based on number of race wins during the season. Jacobsen had one more win than White on the tour which gave the Championship to Jacobsen.

Eric’s two wins on the season came on May 7th at Tazewell (TN) Speedway where he captured $3,000 and his first-career Late Model victory and his second win came on September 16th at Boyd’s (GA) Speedway where he collected $3,000 and his second-career Late Model victory.

White’s first-career Late Model victory came during the series’ second visit to Wartburg (TN) Speedway where he pocketed $5,000 on Friday Night July 1st while triple sanctioning the event with the STARS Midwest Dirt Racing League and the Southern Regional Racing Series.

Jacobsen was the only driver to be a repeat winner on the tour during the nine events. One race was rained out this season back in June at Boyd’s Speedway. A total of 123 different drivers representing Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Virginia, West Virginia, California and Indiana.
