$66K Payoff for “The Ultimate” UFo Finale at Hesston Oct 21-22 Includes Bonuses with NO Entry Fees!
(Mars, PA) Hesston Speedway has announced the payoff for its biggest event ever, “The Ultimate” & “Challenger Super Championships.” This mega-event will take place on October 21-22 and over $66,000 in prize money has been posted for the UFo Super Late Models, UFo Semi-Lates (limited/crate/steel block late model), B-Cadets (street/pro-stocks), Hobby-Modifieds (pure/strictly stock/charger) and Roadrunners (factory stock fwd 4-cylinder). This massive payoff is being paid out with no car entry fees in any class and has been boosted with bonuses from G & R Excavating & Demolition and Frankland Racing Supply
Payoff for the UFo Super Late Models has been increased over the original plan courtesy of G & R Excavating & Demolition of Tyrone, PA. Sponsorship from owner Glenn Ray will allow higher start money for the Super Late Models for the weekend. G & R Excavation and Demolition will also be giving away 4 kid’s bicycles on Saturday, October 22.
75 gift cards for $75 from Frankland Racing Supply will also be distributed to race teams at the event. These cards will go to the 1st 25 non-qualifying Super Late Models and Semi-Lates each night, increasing the value of the non-qualifying positions by $75 with a limit of one gift card for each driver during the event. At least 50 Super Late Models in attendance for both nights that do not qualify will be guaranteed a minimum of $325 including $250 cash and the $75 Frankland card. All Semi-Lates that do not qualify will be guaranteed a minimum of $175 for a 2 day race or $150 for a 1 day race including cash and the $75 Frankland card.
Super Late Models will compete in 2 separate racing programs with a total of $10,000 to win. On Friday night, October 21, the Super Late Models will compete in “Mega-Blitz Mach1” featuring a 30 lap feature paying $2,000 to win and $250 to start, with $100 for non-qualifiers. This event will be run under UFo car rules and procedures but will not award UFo points. 1 UFo provisional will start the event. Additionally, the highest finisher from “Mega-Blitz” that does not qualify Saturday night will be the track provisional in “The Ultimate.”
On Saturday, October 22, the UFo Super Late Models will battle for 61 laps with $8,000 going to the winner, $500 to start and $150 for non-qualifiers. Drivers that make both features will be guaranteed at minimum of $750. Any non-qualifying Super Late Model driver making at least 1 lap on the track each night will be guaranteed a minimum total of $250 payoff plus a $75 Frankland gift card to the 1st different non-qualifying drivers each night. The starting grid will include 1 UFo provisional and the track provisional from “Mega-Blitz.”
“The Ultimate” UFo Super Late Model winners include Jason Covert of Lock Haven, PA from 10th on the grid, Bart Hartman of Zanesville, OH from 20th, Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, WI from 12th and Billy Drake of Bloomington, IL. Average winner’s starting positions for the race is 14th since the event was converted to “The Ultimate” Other Super Late Model event winners from Challenger include Jeremy Miller of Littlestown, PA, Davey Johnson of Latrobe, PA, Rob Blair of Centerville, PA, (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) Barton from Asheville, NY, Alan Dellinger from Hermitage, PA, Chub Frank from Bear Lake, PA, Lynn Geisler of Cranberry, PA and Gary Stuhler of Greencastle, PA.
UFo Semi-Lates will combine limited, crate and steel block late models with weight and spoiler variances. The 44-lap Super Championship will pay $2,000 to win and $200 to start based on a 2-day program. The 1st 25 non-qualifying drivers wil also receive a $75 Frankland gift card. Josh Holtgraver, Max Blair and Mike Knight are previous Semi-Late Super Championship winners in the combined class. Floyd Kline of Marion Center, PA won the inaugural event for the class at Challenger in 1995.
B-Cadets will pay $1,200 to win and $140 to start based on a 2-day program. This class will used 4 categories of weight and spoiler options to allow street and pro-stock cars in the region to compete. Bob Schwartzmiller, Joe Kelley and Alan Dellinger have taken B-Cadet Super Championship wins at “The Ultimate” since 2007. Other winners at Challenger include Bobby Whitling, Tom Snyder, Chris Schneider, Alan Dellinger, Matt Lux, Bobby Powell, Greg Blystone and Barry Kelley.
Hobby-Modifieds will compete in a 1-day program on Saturday, October 22 paying $700 to win and $40 to start for the 22 lap Super Championship. This division will combine area strictly stocks, pure stocks and chargers. Bruce Hartzfield, who holds the honor of being the final race winner ever at the Challenger Raceway, and Tim Laughard are winners in this class when it competed at Challenger. Craig Bainey, Ed Keilman, Jeremy Zufall, Larry McBryar, Gary Churchfield, Johnny Kuzemchak, Brad Shirey, John Maze and Lloyd Blystone are other winners in the class at Challenger.
Roadrunners will utilize Hesston rules for stock front wheel drive 4-cylinders, which are compatible with most area track rules. This class will compete in a 22 lap Super Championship paying $400 to win and $35 to start as a 1 day program on Friday night, October 21. Jeff Dellinger, Ray Hickcok and Tom Pavelko are former winners in this class.
If Friday, October 21 is cancelled by inclement weather, a 1-day alternative program will be run on Saturday October 22 only with the Super Late Models paying $8,000, Semi-Lates, $1,400, Cadets, $850 and Hobby-Modifieds $700.
