U. S. Steel Signs on as Title Sponsor of

Dirt Track World Championship

Waycross, GA (September 27, 2011) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and famed promoter Carl Short are pleased to announce that U. S. Steel has signed on as the title sponsor of the 31st Annual Dirt Track World Championship. The U. S. Steel Dirt Track World Championship, presented by Sunoco will take place at K-C Raceway in Chillicothe Ohio on October 13th-15th. This mega event sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will be the final event of the 2011 season and will determine the series national champion. Earl Pearson Jr. the four-time series champion is the defending champion of the DTWC winning the event at West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells West Virginia in 2010.

United States Steel Corporation headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pa., is an integrated steel producer with major production operations in the United States, Canada and Central Europe. The company manufactures a wide range of value-added steel sheet and tubular products for the automotive, appliance, container, industrial machinery, construction, and oil and gas industries.

"We are very excited and honored to have U. S. Steel come on board for the DTWC. To have an opportunity to be associated with a great company of this size and magnitude is really exciting", stated Ritchie Lewis, series director. "To have a great partner as the title sponsor of this huge event will just make the whole weekend that much bigger. Having the DTWC and all the history of the event on our schedule gives our series a huge platform to end the season on and crown our champion. We have a tremendous point's battle between Jimmy Owens and Scott Bloomquist that will be settled at this event. Then you add in the fact the race pays $50,000 to win will really spice up the excitement and weekend activities", stated Ritchie Lewis.

"U. S. Steel is pleased to be a sponsor of the Dirt Track World Championship," said Scott Coleman, general manager - U. S. Steel Great Lakes Works. "There are many great partners who put on a fantastic series for the fans and we are proud to be a part of that."

Not only will the $50,000 to win U. S. Steel DTWC be sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series but the event will move to a familiar venue back to the state of Ohio at the K-C Raceway in Chillicothe. In addition to the $50,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series feature event, there will be a $3,000 to win Jim Dunn non-qualifiers race and a $3,000 to win open wheel modified feature event as well. Carl Short, promoter of the DTWC, has developed a great relationship with Jeff and Vickie Schrader, owners of KC Raceway and is looking forward to having this event at K-C Raceway.
